Pretty sure this sums up the feelings of every gardener between the Rockies and the Atlantic, right?

So many fantastic reasons to get out in the garden!

Why do you garden?
Sure, that succulent produce improves your diet by leaps and bounds… But your endless labor of love may also strengthen you in some surprising ways.

Because my garden is the one place where I can be a part of the cycle of life, especially while living in a world that doesn't make a lot of sense most of the time!

We're roasting, freezing and canning! Whichever process makes the most sense for the space, the time and the impact on the quality on the end product! http://blog.fillmorecontainer.com/

"When Dennis and Danielle McClung bought a foreclosed home in Mesa, Ariz., in 2009, their new yard featured a broken, empty swimming pool. Instead of spending a small fortune to repair and fill it, Dennis had a far more prescient idea: He built a plastic cap over it and started growing things inside."

What a fantastic use for that space!

With help from family and friends and a ton of internet research, Garden Pool was born.
Dennis and Danielle McClung have turned a broken swimming pool into a self-contained ecosystem that pumps out veggies and fish. Beat that!

When it comes to preserving tomatoes, most people think that you have to go big. And while it’s true that during late summer it’s easy to get your hands on Romas and San Marzanos by the boxful, there’s also nothing wrong with thinking small. Here are a few tips for scaling down those big-batch recipes to turn just a few pints of tomatoes into delicious sauce.

I'll bet you already knew this!

"One of the oldest therapies, horticultural therapy brings people and plants together for health and wellness. Today many hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, prisons, schools, social-service facilities and community centers use people-plant interactions as a form of treatment for people with physical or mental disabilities."

Many of us garden without ever really thinking of why we enjoy it.

I listened to an interesting radio talk show, several years back, where a doctor, who had written a book about this, was being interviewed (I believe his name was Dr. Thomas), and he described this method, and how he was endeavoring to pioneer its use in health facilities (esp. nursing homes) throughout the U.S. It was called "The Eden Effect."
