A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of shooting Sophie and Jon's engagement shoot. They're getting married at Upper House, Hayfield in August and really liked the idea of having their engagement shoot there too.

The venue is stunning, with Kinder and Kinder Reservoir as it's back garden. Being a huge fan of Kinder and in particular the William Clough route up, I was excited to be able to use it as the backdrop for their shoot.

The forecast for the weekend was looking pretty grim, however we lucked out massively and the sun came out just in time, providing some gorgeous light. Sophie and Jon had said they'd quite like some relaxed, fun and informal shots and boy there they naturals at this :) I didn't even have to give them any guidance.

Really looking forward to shooting their wedding in August, fingers crossed we have more of the same weather.

This is a shot from a personal shoot I did with two other photoographers and very good friends.

This is the lovely Ellie, all three of us stepped outside of our comfort zone and stood in front of the camera, something us photographers don't do very often!

It's nice to be creative and push yourself every once in a while and as always it's creat to get out with two other like minded people :)

The best sunset I have ever seen on Skye!

Ok bold statement I know, but it's genuinely true, we've either been plagued with miserable rain and clouds or perfectly clear skies when we've been out, however on this occasion luck was on our side!

James had asked me whether I wanted to shoot sunset at Elgol again or head somewhere else, as I still hadn't got a shot I was completely happy with at Elgol (and having visited most of the island in the last few days) I chose to revisit.

I'm quite glad I decided to try one last time for a shot here as when we arrived it looked like it was going to be an epic fail on the sunset front, feelign quite annoyed at 'picking the wrong location' I dumped my camera down in a bit of a mood, thining it was totally pointless even getting it out of my bag. HOW WRONG WAS I?!

The sun fired its way through the smalled gap in the clouds on the horizon and we were treated to some prettic epic light and extremely stormy skies! Thank god I'd taken my camera out of my bag as it was a big rush to get composed and a shot taken in such a short amount of time.

I also got a full on soaking from the waves, like drenched from my waist down. All good fun though when you bag the shot :D

Little people in a big cave!
(ok James is far from little but it sounded good 😉)

A shot from a very rainy weekend in the Lake District, we decided to make to most of exploring and head to Cathedral Cavern for some creative flash photography! It's such an awesome place and I definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area.

There's nothing quite like a quiet walk around the village on your wedding day... Not only that, but to head to the local chippy whilst you're there too! That's exactly what this awesome couple did!

As they were heading back to their venue, I couldn't resist taking a snap with this amazing light in the background! Definitely hoping for some more light like this for this years weddings!

Sticking with Scotland and we're back on the Isle of Skye for another sunrise.

By this point we were getting a little tired of the perfectly clear skies, don't get me wrong it's perfect walking conditions, but they get a bit boring when it comes to photography.

We had parked up at the top of the road, not too far away from the view point on The Quiraing. We were thankful to have made it to the top as on our previous trip my poor little Golf nearly went sliding down the steep edges when we hit ice and couldn't get any further up the hill! We were also thankful that we didn't spend the night sleeping in a car and instead a much comfier bed :)

The sky on this morning was quite hazy which meant not much of the suns light got trhoguh, a shame as when it had risen above the haze it was too bright. However, the colours were lovely and I was pleased to have finally captured a shot from here.

Now this is my kind of photography! Combining mountains and people!

Poor James had to balance on the rock for me to quickly take this shot before the passing clouds and fleeting light disappeared. This shot was taken just after Christmas on our trip up to Glencow.

We headed up Beinn a'Chrulaiste for sunrise with a clear sky to start with and by the time we had got 3/4 of the way up the clouds had fully rolled in. I can't complain when it looks as moody as this though!

Back to Heaton House Farm today from the lovely Jordan and Jacks wedding.

We'd been hoping for some sunshine all day whilst enduring the miserable drizzle during group shots (thank you everyone for being such troopers for me).

Just after they had finished their wedding breakfast the sun broke through the clouds and I quickly grabs them both to make the most of the gorgeous light. I just love the tree that is set back in the grounds of Heaton House Farm, it really frames the couples well.

Bit of difference scenery for this post, a place that I love but haven't visited much recently, Snowdonia, Afon lloeer to be precise.

We'd headed down in the van for a long weekend late on Thursday night to make the most of our time there, the forecast wasn't looking great but we just fancied a nice weekend away so wasn't expecting too much.

On this particular day, we were due to climb Tryfan, however as the cloud base was so low we decided against it and thought it might be a good idea to make use of our National Trust membership instead. As we were heading to our chosen place, the clouds started to clear and a sunset was starting to look quite promising. The choice was either head to Llanddwyn Island, a place we'd both wanted to photograph at sunset for some time and face potentially perfectly clear skies or head back to the mountains and chance some stormy light. We decided on the latter and off we drove back towards Tryfan.

We had visited this spot a day earlier to scout the compositions, I struggled a little trying to compose a shot with the waterfalls and Tryfan in the distance, but I think it turned out ok in the end with a small shaft of light just creeping into the corner of the image.

As quickly as the sun disappeared, a slightly different situation unfolded as a S&R heli thundered through the sky right past us and proceeded to hover along the flanks of Tryfan. It turns out a father and daughter had gotten slightly off track and were stuck on the steep sides needed help to descend. It's a very real reminder of how dangerous the mountains can be and how amazing the Mountain Rescue/Search and Rescuse teams are!

Hello!

I'm so excited that wedding season is upon us, I can't wait to capture all my brides and grooms big day as it unfolds. I'm even more excited that there seems to be a running theme this year with VW Campervans, either owners themselvse or having one as their wedding day transport. Absolutely up my street!

Helen couldn't resist having this gorgeous type 2 splitty as her wedding car and I just HAD to take a shot of her with it before she headed off the the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton.
