So HBO is trying clean the mess they themselves created by sending out DVD copies instead of online encrypted copy, which they could have used to self destruct in some given hours.

IMHO or would be silly to set it as default. If I was the automaker, I would use both CarPlay and Android Auto and offer them as options for my customers to choose.
