It looks like Google is smitten with a new Android partner. Chinese manufacturer Huawei can do no wrong right now. The feelings are definitely mutual, and a closer relationship could deliver major benefits for both companies. Not least because Huawei can help Google get into China, and Google can help Huawei get out. Why else would Huawei and Google look to partner? Where is Huawei coming from? What is Google after? And what could it all mean ...

Shutterstock We've been hearing predictions about the Internet of Things for a while now. It's easy to find research, like this IDC report, suggesting that billions more devices will soon be connected to the Internet. IDC reckons that there are 200 billion devices that could be connected, but only around 20 billion actually are right now. Naturally, that number is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years as cars, dog collars, dishwash...

Microsoft's failure to tackle Android and iOS in the smartphone scene has confounded a lot of analysts. How can a company so firmly entrenched in computing, with plenty of cash, talented developers, and strong brands, consistently fail to make gains in mobile? Microsoft's lack of success in mobile has plenty of causes, and they aren't much to do with the actual OS. According to IDC, Windows Phone managed a 2.7% share in the first quarter of 20...

Shutterstock You’d be hard-pressed to find a more hyped pairing of words right now than machine learning. It is being hailed as the wave of the future, but will it lead humanity to a bright new dawn, or usher in the age of our robot overlords? We’re not going to get into the specifics on what machine learning is, suffice to say that it’s about machines sharing data, making predictions, and learning to improve on them without being explicit...

The Polar A300 is a fitness tracker that will help you hit your training goals and stay fit, but it's only interested in activity tracking, and it's kind of ugly.

I'm obsessed with technology and I write about it
Introduction

I live in Edinburgh and work full time as a freelance writer and editor. I have a number of my own websites and I also work for various clients in print and on the web. I am passionate about technology, especially mobile devices and video games.

I worked in the games industry where I started out as a games tester at VIS Entertainment working on titles like State of Emergency then I worked for Outerlight as a producer and game designer on titles like The Ship.

I worked as a Managing Editor at Bright Hub covering the mobile technology space and I worked as a Creative Director at Rock The Deadline providing content marketing for software and tech companies.

I still have a passionate obssession with gaming. When I'm not working or gaming I like to surf. I'm also a big fan of horror movies.
