Latest gaming notes.

Notes from Monday's session. First combat of the new campaign. A few issues with the macros, but sorted them out quickly once we figured out what was wrong.

Awesome. Thanks for the link. I feel like this would be a lot more streamlined than playing over Hangouts.

Our second session playing The One Ring, and the companions manage to steal back the Sickle of the Full Moon without being caught and escape without a fight... for the moment.

My new campaign kicked off yesterday. If this one lasts even half as long as the last, it'll be great.

Yeah I do too I'm very generous with traits - in essence if they come up with good story reasons the trait can fit then the auto success is great for online play speeding up resolution which I really like. The Players had a lot of fun with that. One tip from previous play; Heart is an uber stat and your power gamers are going to have high heart for sure, it adds to so many things they can't resist it. I think it's ultimately not worth fighting it, just be aware of the fact that it factors into the mechanics quite a bit.
Treasure my stump a couple of folks at first, they will come around to getting it. It works so well I wasn't it in all games.

So, I'm soon going to be starting The One Ring. For those of you who have run the Tales from Wilderland, The Marshbell, and The Darkening of Mirkwood, is there any particular order or timeline that has worked well for you?

Had our second session of the new game yesterday. Went well. Avoided fighting the thieves, plenty of stealth and traits being used, objective met, and hopefully they are homeward bound... although it is unlikely to be that easy ;)

They waited until most were asleep. They did overhear some talk and they saw the marks of manacles too, so that helped them not go in all guns blazing I think.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this now. This is my version of The Falrock from the The One Ring adventure Theft of the Moon.

That is VERY well done.  Nice!  I'm going to have to get some of that iso-grid paper one of these days, again.  I love to draw on the stuff, it's fun.  This is really nice.

A friend of mine asked to me take a look at running this.
Can you recommend any resources outside of the books?

The One Ring campaign kicked off yesterday evening, with an introductory adventure (not my own) to get everyone use to the rules and setting.

Got another Obsidian Portal site all ready to go, just been adding a few bits and pieces. The first adventure post (session 1) follows in the next post.

We have a total of six characters/players now, as follows:

Alberic, a Woodman of the Wilderland
Dafydd, a Barding of Dale
Gilthannas, an Elf of Mirkwood
Veig, a Dwarf of the Lonely Mountain
Popo and Wilibald Took, twins, Hobbits from the Shire.

A nice balance to the Fellowship I think. First session was skill tests and role-play, no combat at all (so different from the previous campaign). Next session should see a fight, so that we can see how that works.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Can we beat the 214 session record of the previous ACKS campaign?
Fellowship of the… It has been five years of relative peace since the Battle of the Five Armies, and the Wilderland has seen a lot of travellers passing along its vales, rivers and through the great forest of Mirkwood. Six such travellers find themselves at the Village of Stonyford, attending the annual harvest Festival of the Full Moon. They are recent acquaintances for the most part, aside from the Took brothers that have travelled all the way...
