Ever wonder how to get rid of water ingress below your house or rising damp.. this is the right way...

Dig, dig, paint some water proofing on the wall and lay plastic, install stormwater drain with y junctions on it and tape in aggregate drain to allow water to enter into the pvc.

More picks of outlet drain to come.

Test water from hose took 4 minutes to reach upvc and flow out at a desired outlet (pit).

No more riding damp of water under floor.

This isn't cheap to install due to materials and labour hours hand digging but worth it in the long run.

Google "Canberra plumber" and select Silva Plumbing from below the maps for lots of handy hints and tricks you can use around the house.

If you look closely on the drain camera image you will note there is a reflection of a pipe on water (water is at 9 o'clock).

This drain was cleared and proceeded to block up after only a few weeks.

This particular problem is reasonably common at a 90deg vertical change in direction, where a horizontal pipe drops due to earth movement and a vertical drain remains in position and does not change. Result is a "dam" for solids caused by a longitudinal dissociation or a drain pipe eclipse.

Solution: unfortunately in this circumstance the only option is to dig and repair the section of drain so it no longer has a "dam".

Thankfully with today's locating equipment a repair of this nature comes in at a reasonable cost.

The second image is where the locator detected the pipe camera and where we are going to excavate the drain.

All in all - it was a reasonable result considering the anxt of the Unknown...

A classic Canberra instantaneous hot water system change over from a storage gas hot water system. Yes, gas meter upgraded as there was a ducted gas heater installed.

A customer's tennant, reported a burning smell coming from an instantaneous hot water system...

Thinking it was a forest fire smell.

General maintenance to maintain hot water flue distances from flammable surfaces/items must be maintained... Poor shrub

Move a tap as the garden evolves. Not much good in a pathway but highly practical 2.5 m away.
