By 2018 (10 years after the law first passed), cars will have to have rear-view technology: http://edmu.in/1jXiI8c

Is this a great move for auto safety or just an additional cost to your future vehicle?

What Car Brand Offers the Most Residual Value?

When you are evaluating the true cost of an automobile, you have to look beyond just the sticker price. After all, the minute you drive it off the lot, you have to pay for gasoline, insurance, and, most importantly, maintenance.

There are a lot of vehicles that look great, come with tons of bells and whistles, and offer a low up-front cost — the problem is that they break down over and over, and you have to scrap them a lot sooner than you would like. Over the lifetime of the vehicle, it ends up costing you a lot more than was originally advertised.

This is where #Honda really sets itself apart. According to recent studies, as many as 75% of the Honda models that were sold in the last 25 years are still on the road right now. That figure tops all other major automakers, and it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Honda vehicles provide the best residual value.

The fact that so many Hondas are still on the road, even more than 20 years after they were sold, is evidence of Honda's longstanding commitment to reliability. It has always been the automaker's goal to build and sell vehicles that run longer, stronger, and more reliably than anything else on the road.

It comes as no surprise that Honda is winning more awards for residual value. Over the last 11 years, Honda has been named Best Mainstream Brand in the Best Residual Value Awards. If you are looking for an affordable vehicle now, and long into the future, look for a Honda.

Congratulations Honda!

After beginning production on November 1, 1982 at the plant in Marysville, OH, Honda has now produced its 10 millionth Accord. With combined production from auto manufacturing plants in East Liberty, OH; Lincoln, AL; and Greensburg, IN, more than 20 million American-built* Hondas have been made. We are so thankful to every Honda owner that has helped us reach this huge milestone. http://honda.us/1hQljLj

Honda Wins Good Housekeeping Award for New HondaVAC

It's a common problem with family vehicles – how do you keep them clean? When they're packed full of kids with muddy shoes, toddlers dropping candy, family towels covered in sand, and shedding pets, minivans can get really dirty, really quick.

That used to mean that you would have to make a special trip to the car wash, hopefully without the kids in tow, or you would have to invest in a portable vacuum and clean the van out in your driveway. Neither option was especially convenient.

Honda recently came up with a simple but clever solution for families with dirty minivans. The 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite (http://www.silkohonda.com/models/2014-honda-odyssey) comes with a built-in vacuum cleaner. It has a 12-foot hose that can reach any area in the car, and when you're done, the hose is stored in a special compartment out of sight. Any dirt and debris that is collected can be emptied from a convenient collection container.

A built-in vacuum may not seem like a revolutionary idea, but Honda was the first automaker to actually try it. Their efforts are paying off. The home experts at Good Housekeeping magazine offer yearly awards for VIPs (Very Innovative Products). They test and rate thousands of different products, and then select the ones that really help make family life easier.

The built-in vacuum in the 2014 Odyssey received one of these awards for solving a common problem in an innovative way. As most moms and dads know, letting kids snack in the car can be a recipe for disaster, and even without food, minivans inevitably get dirty. The HondaVAC system eliminates this problem once and for all.

Being able to clean your minivan any time it's convenient or necessary has a number of advantages. It preserves the upholstery and keeps the minivan smelling fresh. The experts at Good Housekeeping realized how game-changing the HondaVAC is, which is why they gave it one of their most coveted awards. If your minivan is a mess, consider upgrading to a Honda Odyssey with the HondaVAC system.

My overall experience with Silko Honda was a great one due in part to the Salesperson Tony Santos. Tony is a wonderful person and an exceptional salesperson. He is very knowledgeable and has over 20 years of experience in the business. Tony put all my fears to rest and worked very hard to get me the vehicle of my choice. He was never once pushy or overbearing. I am sending my friends and family to Silko Honda because of Tony Santos. GREAT JOB TONY!!!

I was referred to Adam at Silko Honda by a family member, and traded in my car for a new 2014 Honda CRV. When I first arrived at the dealership I was thrilled to find out that their online inventory was up to date, and that the CRV that I had seen online was indeed available. I was able to test drive the vehicle a generally far distance, in order to see how it drove on both backroads and highway. I began leasing for the first time and was given a thorough explanation on coverage, warranties, and other details pertinent to leasing a vehicle. I was able to pick up the car in 3 days, and did not run into any problems. When picked it up, my sales man (Dave) took the time to show me how some of the controls that I was not familiar with worked, such as connecting bluetooth to my cell phone. Overall I couldn't be happier with the customer service I received from all staff that became involved in my purchase, and will recommend Silko Honda to any friends or family looking for a new car.

We leased an Odyssey from Silko and now are in Illinois. We started getting calls about our warranty expiring and we called Silko to ask about this. They explained that it was someone trying to sell us an extended warranty, which we didn't need, and also took the time to explain our overall warranty. They also asked how the car was running, and reminded about the recall on the Odyssey. We told them we service the car here in Illinois, and they said that if we ever have any questions or problems to call. I was impressed with their follow-through and care, even though were over a thousand miles away!

Might edit their slogan from Go Silko to NO Silko! Disappointing experience would be an understatement! They do not know how to treat people! They managed a string of broken promises, completely inadequate communication and though they brag about being in business for 40 years - it's hard to understand with the way they treated us! I even put a call in to the VP - Adam Silverleib - it's been over 2 days and no response. Sadly, that's in line with the rest of our experience.

I purchased a 2014 Accord. I have known Geoff for a while and he put me together with Ryan for a wonderful sales experience. Finance went smoothly, registration transfer was seamless, and the price was more than fair. I would recommend Silko to any one looking to purchase a vehicle.

Nutshell... If you want half assed service, by people that probably know less about the vehicle than you do. By all means, Take your equipment to Silko! After 3 attempts to get my Car fixed, and $700 spent, I left once again with a check engine light illuminated. Being told by everyone, that the car has 100,000 miles on it, so it really should be considered old and unfixable... I thought Hondas are supposed to last forever? First Visit: Was told that the evaporative system needed to be replaced, illuminating the MIL. Seemed like a reasonable explanation for a Code that referenced the evap canister. So even though I went through the HELM manual step by step, and checked all of the components finding no faults, I figured that a dealership had better diagnostic equipment. $480 to replace the components, and a 6 hour wait. 6 Days later, Engine light back on... Same code P1457 Second Visit: Service manager was no problem to deal with, but said that the code that they were reading was different, and indicated a low oil scenario... Even though I used my OBDII scanner in the parking lot and retrieved the evap code, and the oil levels were normal. But once again... figured I was in the wrong. This time they only charged me for the oil change that would bring the oil levels back up, and cleared the "Code". 3rd Visit: $115 dollars and a 4 hour wait to tell me that the same P1457 Code was due to a blown ECU... Which I suspected was the case from my original diagnostics, and is a common fault with Honda's of this era. Honda apparently accidently designed something to go from a simple fix to a catastrophic failure. So I was told by a seemingly fresh out of trade school mid 20's kid that the ECU would continue to degrade to the point that I would probably break down (had no idea what he was talking about). If you don't know about the problem, don't make up a bunch of dimwitted lies.. I happen to know Everything there is to know about this problem... So I need a new ECU. No Problem. 4th Visit: I obtain an ECU from a wrecker with a very specific product code that I was instructed to retrieve by the parts dept. (who are very helpful). I bring it in, and wait for an hour and a half to be told that it is the wrong part number. same service kid, same incorrect misinformed information. Tech was giving me a new part number, which is actually used on a non California Emissions ULEV vehicle, and would certainly not work in the vehicle. So I get upset, and take out my frustration on the dimwitted service kid, as he has now copped a know it all attitude... He told me they would never work on the car again, which is fine with me... as they have NO clue what they are doing. Instead of taking my car to the convenient-to-my-work dealership, I take it to one down the street from my home address. They use the same ECU that I gave Silko, flash the keys(which Silko said wouldn't work) and my car has had a miraculous recovery. Well played Silko Service. Hopefully you get all the air filter changes in your quota this month!
