Deap Sea and Foreign Going
90 % of Goods are transported over the sea in Container ships.
Just bought this book as Deal of the Day for 1.69 EUR
Looks like an interesting read.

Description
There are 40,000 freighters on the seas. Between them they carry nearly everything we eat, wear and work with. And yet this massive global industry has remained largely unexamined: it passes by out of sight for most of us and, through the 'flags of convenience' system, its dubious practices often slip under the radar of regulators. In this unique investigation, Rose George travels the high seas with their powerful naval fleets, pirate gangs, and illegal floating factories, and visits the ports and their land-bound dockworkers, tycoons, missionaries, stevedores, border control guards, and ship-spotters. She meets the beachcombers who track the 10,000 containers that are lost every year, the robots who are gradually replacing human crews, and the environmentalists campaigning against the tide of marine pollution. Intrepid, informed and tenacious, George steers a sure course through the murky, character-rich waters of international shipping.

The biggest container ship can carry 15000 boxes.It can hold 746 million bananas, one for every European, on one ship. If the containers of Maersk Kendal (the container ship) alone were lines up, they would stretch 11,000 miles, of more then halfway round the planet. If they were stackes instead, they would be 1500 miles high, 7530 Eiffel Towers. If Kendal discharged her containers onto trucks, the line of traffic would be 60 miles long.

New Google Sheets with GData API reponds with error 400

I am using 2.0.18 of gdata python api to read spreadsheets. Before new google sheets this worked ok. Since April new sheets are used by default and I am getting an error 400 trying to read the spreadsheet with the following error message:

    gdata.service.RequestError: {'status': 400, 'body': 'Invalid query parameter value for grid_id.', 'reason': 'Bad Request'}

I have found, that when creating the spreadsheets by hand, there is not such problem. But I have Microsoft XLS files to upload  to a Drive folder and let them convert to Google sheets, only then I get this error.

Any workaround or has anybody experienced the same behavior?

Jarvis about Döpfner's Letter

So now Döpfner continues to play, thinking that by bullying Google in the press and with government, he can get a pity turn at kickball. But he should beware the unintended consequences of his game, affecting the reputation of Germany as a source of technological and industrial innovation and inviting greater government regulation and interference in markets.
You will never find a finer example of a certain German business model popular in the internet age than in an open letter to Google's Eric Schmidt written...
