Live video streams are awesome.. But you know what's even better? "Live-buffered" video streams with accelerated playback speed! :-)
For example, Microsoft streamed a full-day marathon from their Build event today. Lots of awesome stuff, which is great to see! However, who has the time to watch it all in "real-live-time" -- right? Well, HTML5 to the rescue: tune in to the stream, hit pause, and let it buffer... then resume, and catch up on last X-buffered minutes at whatever speed you like. By my measurements, I saved myself 2hrs+ today with this fun trick! :-)
The only thing you'll need to make this work is the "video speed controller" extension: bit.ly/video-speed -
that's the menu in the top left corner of the screenshot that allows you to adjust the playback speed of any HTML5 video, regardless of whether the underlying player offers this functionality or not (MSFT's did not).
