Definitely the classiest spot in Daytona - even some of the NASCAR drivers stay here when in Daytona for the big race! Great location right on the beach with access and a nice pool area. They can't seem to keep up with fresh towels for some reason (typically a 30 min wait) so you might want to bring your own just in case. Rooms are tastefully decorated and large, but there a few signs of wear and tear around the place that they could fix up. Restaurant is good, but slow and pricey (especially the dinner menu, 40 bucks for Filet Mignon). We ate there twice, both times off the moderately priced lunch menu. Service was mixed around the board, front desk and valet were awesome, restaurant staff were nice although slow, and housekeeping wasn't great. The housekeeper didn't come the second day at all until we saw her in the elevator at around 5pm and asked her if she was in charge of our room, which wasn't made. She admitted she forgot to do our room and came back rudely and just made our beds. We tipped her the next day, hoping for better service and while she did come that time, everything didn't seem to be made right. A problem I find with this place is, no tip, no service. I kept running out of $1 bills trying to tip everybody, but I guess that is common with most upscale hotels. The whole reason we ended up at this hotel was we were looking for a hotel in Florida during the holiday season and we saw oceanview balcony rooms at the Shores for $109/night, including valet parking and 2 free drinks a day. But really, I wouldn't pay over $200 a night for this hotel. I'd rather stay at the Hampton Inn, with free breakfast, parking, no people you have to tip etc. and closer to the action. This hotel is located in the quieter Shores area of Daytona, which pretty much means you have to walk at least a mile to get to any grocery stores/restaurants, which is great if all your looking for is a quiet beach, but let's be honest, that's not the reason people come to Daytona Beach over any other beach in Florida. They come for the boardwalk. The races. The restaurants. There are MUCH nicer and quieter beaches in Florida than Daytona, so if all you want is a quiet beach, then go to somewhere like Siesta Key or Palm Beach. So what purpose does the Shores have? Who is it for? Well, I don't know. All I know is that the rooms are booked up and I can see happy smiles everywhere. And that's perfectly fine with me.

I stayed in the Cabana suite for the weekend ($300/night approx.). First the positives as they are very meager compared to the negatives. POSITIVES: breakfast buffet (extra $15/day), nice large and deep heated pools and hot tubs, great location, small but useful fitness center, timely room service. NEGATIVES: First of all, basic amenities such as microwave and bathrobes were not present for which we had to call and ask. Also, the "Italian Marble" bathrooms that they advertise were leaking and so we had to have all our towels on floor in order to prevent a "flood" after taking shower every time!! Also, the outside Cabana TV wasn't of any use at all as first we had issues powering it on and so after few calls to front desk that issue was fixed. Later on, the cable channels were not working and so took some more calls to front desk but they didn't fix., After calling few times a day and waiting for someone to arrive (who never showed up), we were assigned our neighbor's Cabana late night as if we were going to stay up all night just to watch the TV!! So the TV wasn't of any help when really needed during the day!! Even after all this hassle, no signs of sorry on their faces for such incoveniences to their guests. FINAL THOUGHTS: Instead of paying the extra for the luxury ($300), I would rather stay in a normal room and spend the money somewhere that offers REAL luxury and appreciates luxury. I don't think one would expect to go through all the phone calls and hassles after paying $300/night approx. somewhere that claims to be the ONLY 4 star 'diamond rated' resort in the WHOLE Central Florida!! This review reflects solely my experience at the resort.

2nd stay at Shores!! Needed some time by myself and staff was extremely kind and helpful. Oceanfront (best view ever) room was beautiful and clean. Loved the service from housekeeping, valet service, restaurant and bar and front desk. Treated me like I was the only guest there. Went for 3 days and stayed for a week!

The room at first glance was beautiful. It was on the oceanside. I loved the feel of the room . It was a great location. Not to far from Daytona's boardwalk. The bed was comfortable and the room service was fast and on point. The deserts we ordered were delicious. As the night went on we found some issues. Sugar ants for 1. The swarmed my pop. They were everywhere. Then the bathroom door locked from the outside. I shut the door waiting for the water to get warm in the sink. We had to call maintenance. The third issue we had, was the fact that we couldn't get one of the 2 the balcony sliding glass doors open. Other than those 3 things it was great. We stayed in room 318, with a private balcony . I also found a kindle. We turned it into the front office. They are putting it into their lost and found.

The Shores has a gorgeous lobby and outside area leading to the beach. The fire pits were cozy and romantic at night. We were only there for one night, but the front desk service was quick and professional. Unfortunately all is not well at the Shores. We chose the $12 self parking, as opposed to the $17(?) valet. Self parking is across A1A, and there is a helpful walkway over the road. However the elevators to the walkway were out of order, and they looked like they had been out of use for some time. Not surprisingly, they were out of order the next morning - why would they not have a crew come out and fix this immediately? It smacked of laziness and unprofessionalness. Likewise, while the rooms were fairly sized (and make sure to get an ocean-facing room, because the views are stunning), they simply do not have the amenities of an actual 4 star hotel (which the Shores claims they are). Bathroom fixtures were creaky and dated, furniture was chipped and unpainted. These types of issues are easy fixes, and they're the things that let you know management has no real interest in making this a premium hotel. I don't want to come off as a snob, because I'll stay anywhere, but this isn't even close to a four star experience. To borrow a phrase from the philosopher Judith Sheindlin, don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Very disapointed with the whole stay. Paid 2 grand for a 6 night stay. When we arrived the bed was NASTY!! The bed sheets had stains on them. There was no microwave in the room. I mean 2 grand for a room without a microwave. We had to beg for one, and luckily one of the guys brought us one. A nice old gentleman came and changed the bed sheets though, but the whole deal was that this was suppose to be the best night of our life, we are newlyweds and to come to that was just a huge let down. The $20 coupons we got for breakfast was a joke, we still had to pay the taxes, i mean really??? They offered to take it to our room but $48 for scramble eggs and bacon and juice for 2. Really??? Outrageous!!!!! I can say this I will never be back to that place again. When I go I will stay somewhere else. Dont expect alot if you go. The shower head sprayed water everywhere. Our honeymoon got ruined by this place :( The only highlight or good thing about our stay was the valet staff and the cook that made the eggs in the morning for breakfast they were all very friendly and courteous. Other than that DONT WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY ON THIS PLACE!!!!!!!
