highland roads
The Highlands of Iceland cover most of the interior of Iceland and are mostly an uninhabitable volcanic desert, because the water precipitating as rain or snow infiltrates so quickly into the ground that it is unavailable for plant growth. This results largely in a surface of grey, black or brown earth, lava and volcanic ashes. A few oasis-like areas with green and colourful mountains can be found though when driving the Highland. One such area is Landmannalaugar.  This image is shot close to that area.  In the back you can see mt. Krakatindur to the left (middle) and mt. Hekla to the right (middle)

a beautiful face
Last weekend I went to a beautiful island located in the Breidafjordur bay in west Iceland, a small remote island called Flatey.  I had a wonderful time.  The weather was sunny and beautiful but not in my convenience taking the best landscape photos so therefore I took a lot of different photographs, images that Im not used to shoot like sheeps, colourful windows, houses and doors etc.  Sometimes its also good to leave your home to a place like this and just be and forget about everything else.  Just listen to the sound of nature and wildlife because on this island cars are not allowed and bird singing is included in the price.  The sheeps at Flatey island are very chilled and relaxed and you can approach them without they running away like crazy as they normally do.   They are just jumping around and eating their grass along the only road leading you through the village.  You gotta love that !!

This matter seems to be escalating by the hour. Over 1500 earthquakes in last 48 hours and more than 500 so far today.

brothers
yes they are related and falling next to each other.  The one to the left is the 3rd largest waterfall in Iceland with a drop of 122 m and the one next to it is often called his neighbour.  Standing up there is a feeling no picture can describe.  Check the rainbow ;-)
