Introducing the chromentashen — a Google take on the traditional three-cornered cookie — homemade by Jewglers (Jewish Googlers) in our New York office. Happy Purim! #nomnom

I just finished my first project as an intern at TES (Torah Educational Software), "Bible Gematria". It's available for Windows and Mac OS X, with the Android and iOS versions coming in the next few weeks.

Finally! Thanks +Google!

Hebrew calendar now available in your Google Calendar

If you use the Gregorian calendar, it seems like Jewish holidays fall on different dates every year. That’s because Jewish holidays follow the Hebrew calendar, a lunisolar calendar used by many Hebrew speakers around the world that bases its months on lunar cycles and its years on solar cycles. Starting today, you can display Hebrew calendar dates alongside Gregorian ones in Google Calendar on the web. To enable it, go into Settings and select “Hebrew calendar” as an Alternate calendar under the General tab.

WHAT!?!?
+Google is keeping most of the patents, but I'm still totally shocked. I can see why they might have reason to do this (mainly to keep other phone manufacturers from feeling like they're playing favorites), but it seemed like there were so many things the two companies could do together.
Particularly after +Google just bought +Nest, I was pretty sure they wanted more to do with hardware, not less.
My guess is that +Larry Page decided that +Google is best suited to stay focused on just software and services, and they really only wanted +Motorola Mobility's patents, to defend +Android from patent trolls like Apple.

We’ve just signed an agreement to sell Motorola to Lenovo for $2.91 billion: http://goo.gl/CzStvO

A while ago +Google bought +Songza, and it looks like they're integrating their technology and music curation now.

Like that cool friend who’s always a step ahead of the curve, Google Play Music now offers expert curated music stations based on what you’re doing. Whether you want music for a morning workout, songs to relieve stress during your commute, or a mix for cooking with friends – we’ll give you the right song for the right moment (US & CA only). http://goo.gl/iC5mra

In honor of my 17th birthday, which was yesterday on the Hebrew calendar - actually that's really just an excuse - I'm open sourcing the code for a small Android app I've been writing on the side lately.
It's a rather niche app, for people like me who get caught up in what they're doing and forget to take breaks. The problem with that is that it's not so healthy, and I find I'm actually more productive after I take a break.
I'm calling it "*Breakify*" (audience groans...)
It's not quite ready yet, I'd call it pre-alpha, but if you like ignoring warnings you can download the code and build it yourself.

More to come G-d willing :D
breakify - Remember to take breaks

I need some help here. Please fill in the blank (be creative):
Think how much better ___ would be, if its developers cared deeply about it.

What little known feature of Android do you use the most?  -

What is going on with +Google Chrome on +Android? It's using more battery than the screen, even though I haven't even been using it!
I noticed this a few days ago, and have been unable to find a way to fix it. I may need to use a different browser if I can't find a fix.
Why should +Google Chrome be running in the background?

Well, I have decided that Google Now Launcher is something I don't really want to give up, and I finally got around to checking the log files, and well, I'll let this speak for itself: http://imgur.com/ttmtygf

Interned as a programmer at TES (www.jewishsoftware.com), developing Jewish Bible study software for desktop and mobile platforms. Built a desktop and mobile application which calculates the “gematria” of Hebrew words and phrases, and matches them to other words, phrases and verses in the Jewish Bible. I wrote all of the code for the software. Link: http://goo.gl/Vw4gnd
