I love the "Waldorf home that supplements with public school" idea. Personally I've always known my kids would go to public school, but I've also known that a lot of the educating happens in the home. It's partly why some kids do so much better than others in the same classroom (apart from learning styles and a million other factors). It's why cities and nonprofits invest heavily in after school programs. The classroom supplements and inspires learning, but kids should have time on their own to learn in more depth, breadth, the things they're curious about. They should have chances to think critically, make tough decisions, and do all sorts of learning outside the classroom.
It's why I love being at home at this stage in my 2 year olds life, and I think it only gets more fun from here!
