part of what a #servantleader understands -

"To combat the insecurities to which she feels female professionals of any ethnic background can fall prey, Marcelo encouraged the audience to spend time on self-awareness. ... “To lead, you’ve got to get through your own stuff [first] so that you can focus on others,” she pointed out.

Amen!

“Own the differences,” advised Marcelo, “and then they are absolutely strengths.”
Care.com CEO Sheila Lirio Marcelo told the audience at a recent Wharton conference how women can become better leaders by grappling with their insecurities.

My name's Yvette Francino and I'm a goal addict. I set a challenging goal for myself and then I get so obsessed with it that I drive my friends and family crazy, trying to come up with ways to meet that goal. Often, if I have...

Continuing to regroup after #iquitmyjob ... pondering my relationship with my calendar now that I don't have a traditional #cubeopolis. Time to welcome uncertainty as inspired by #BrainPickings #MariaPopova February 2014 post - http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2014/02/05/oliver-burkeman-antidote-plans-uncertainty/
Who doesn't read Brain Pickings? (I am assuming  you do. If you do not read Brain Pickings, choose to do so - it is always worth the read and your time.) What motivates our investment in goals and ...

For my first "formal day" of not work-working, what a wonderful group of people (who happen to be improvisers) to be around. (This #improv jam picture makes me smile!)
LOVING IT! My first unemployed work day - Monday - and I still went into SF. I spent my evening at a fun improv jam. Thanks Other People's Children for the monthly jam, and THANKS(!) Dwayne McDaniel for leading a fun group game! Yes, I quit my job. And when I ran the post-employment numbers for ...

{A|CUBE} ... It's Anthrocubeology time - What have you done and what are you going to do to take care of the artist in you?

"... - and so begins my more formal self-study and practice of weaving behavior design, servant leadership, and improv to continue exploring and creating anthrocubeology."

Me? I have been enjoying being an improviser, an artist. I have been learning improv since Jan 2011. This post takes inventory of my improv fun.
This past weekend, I took @Improv_Nerd The Art of Slow Comedy workshop with Jimmy Carrane. The workshop was offered by Pan Theater, one of several improv theaters and organizations in the San Franc...

from +Jeff Harmon on Two Steps to Being an Archaeologist-Leader.

After reading Jeff's post, I ask - - -
"So do tell … Does the Archaeologist-Leader resonate with you? If so, what tools are you using to dig in the land of uncertainty and how will you finish work to serve others? If not, what is your metaphor?"

just sharing, because yesterday (day 4 of the unemployed #iquitmyjob  ) was fun - art, food, friends, fluevog, #improv.
(of course improv was sandwiched in there somehow!)
Thanks @MadeUpTheatre ... MUT's Playground - improv jam - is the stay-on-the-East-Bay-side kind of evening that I needed - that and a good dose of Facebook Blind Lines with this nifty group of peeps. The daytime wasn't too shabby either. Art, food, improv.

Yes #iquitmyjob, and I don't have to attend the weekly Wednesday office mtgs anymore, but that doesn't mean I can't have #icecream from SF's Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous in Dogpatch ... said differently - GIMME ICE CREAM!
Wednesdays of the past. This week, after a read a Facebook post (by a fellow improviser) about going to ice cream at Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous in Dogpatch (on yelp, on Facebook) for the first time, I was reminded of my after-work jaunt with fellow cubesters. Wednesday marks the beginning of ...

My choice, because it was time. #iquitmyjob  ... My last day was Fri, April 4, so I am still in discovering and creating mode.

Time to create #anthrocubeology  - The Way of Anthrocubeology is about creating habits expressive of a servant-leader philosophy that is inspired by improvisation.

Anthrocubeology explores where #BehaviorDesign  and #ServantLeadership  meet - where each person is mindful of possibilities for shaping cultural shifts through interactions, workspace, and choice.
"As far as what is next, I do not yet have anything specific. I am still considering various options yet to be created. Some of you may be aware that prior to joining EPA in 2007, I had my own consulting practice for nearly 13 years. And more recently, I have been engaged in the self-study and ...

Thank you +Harold Jarche for a thoughtful piece on #workspace hierarchy that can result in cultural shifts #anthrocubeology #cubeopolis and create communities #globniche
So essentially, we need to rely on others (via networks) to thrive above the midline of Verna's chart, but we must become flexible in order to deal with the left hand side. Dave Snowden implies that mistaking the left for the right is fatal, since they require different responses.

Introduction
I am Shirley - the ANTHROCUBEOLOGIST - exploring HOW peer-to-peer SHARED interactions can affect WORKSPACE cultural SHIFTS

Meet me over at Anthrocubeology and about.me.

Got workspace stories to share? Tell me YOUR story, and let's make choices by interacting with each other to meaningfully affect not only your workspace but also your soul.

Simply put, I believe workspaces should NOT suck ... and I am here to share my observations and express my perspectives on shaping CULTURAL SHIFTS by bringing together my passions -
  • improvisation (and applied improvisation),
  • behavior design, and
  • servant leadership
- and engaging meaningful through -
  • interactions,
  • workspace, and
  • choice.
And while doing so, I'm strolling in a pair of Fluevogs.
