A super delicious pudding that tastes best when chilled. Traditional, healthy and guilt free snack/dessert. It's gluten free, vegan and contains no refined sugar! Sounds too good to be true? Eat it to believe it!
I know that I have said this many many times before but one of the most satisfying aspects of blogging are the kind of people you get to 'meet' along the way and how they end up becoming a special part of your life. Over a pe...

Delicious & moist banana bread with a hint of coffee and loads of chocolate. Perfect tea time snack cum midnight snack cum dessert! Couldn't ask for more!
There are no prizes for guessing why I am adding another banana bread to my collection. Bananas that have no takers usually find their way into Mangalore buns or banana breads at my place. This time its a bundt with some gana...

Sifting through my recipe archives I realised that I had a few recipes from 2012 that I hadn't posted yet. These are from the post natal recipe collection which I believe will be lost and forgotten if I don't post them right away - well, we are almost halfway into 2015 and it was about time!
Sambarachi Pez is a rice gruel flavoured with everyday spices such as coriander, pepper, cumin, mustard and carom seeds (ajwain). Hope it helps all you new moms out there looking for recipes to add to your post delivery menu.

Ruchik Randhap is all about bringing you tried and tested recipes that have survived the passage of time. We believe in serving you recipes that are old (traditional) and new (contemporary/popular) ones too. In the quest to s...

If you love and crave for Indo-Chinese food and like to make it yourself then this sauce is a must in your pantry. Made with simple everyday ingredients and little effort this recipe is a keeper. What's more, it is so versatile that you can use it to whip up something as simple as a pulao with an oriental twist in practically no time!
Since the past few months the husband has been trying his hand at making Indo Chinese dishes and making great progress at it! Now it is one thing to make Chinese food with ready made sauces and yet another to make the base sa...

Delicious & aromatic breakfast bread from the Middle East!
Happiness is.....freshly baked bread! Nod if you agree! Over the past few months I have come to the conclusion that nothing makes me happier than being involved in the process of baking, whether it is cake or bread. I...

Delicious fish curry to accompany some fresh, piping hot boiled rice! Truly a match made in heaven!
Sometime ago I had mentioned that I wasn't such a good cook when it came to making seafood. Somehow whatever I made didn't quite taste as good as when the hubby made it. I decided to change that for my own good and started ma...

Fritters are so much a part of Indian monsoons and nothing can beat the experience of biting into a piping hot bonda smothered with chutney. What's even better is washing it all down with some hot chai - that's when the spice really hits you! smile emoticon
If its pouring cats and dogs where you live, you must make these beetroot bondas!
http://www.ruchikrandhap.com/2015/06/kapi-falhaar5-beetroot-bonda-vegetable.html
I am back with another Mangalorean favourite that aptly belongs to the Kapi Falhaar series - the Beetroot Bonda which is also known as the Vegetable or Mixed Veg Bonda in Mangalore. Basic bondas (or fritters) are made with a ...

Most Mangaloreans I know love their pork as much as they love their seafood. When it comes to pork I think we have very few dishes that are traditional so perhaps this is the reason why Indo-Chinese versions of pork are making their way into our cuisine, at least as far as party menus are concerned.

Make this as a starter or as a side dish, you are bound to fall in love with it either way!

Pork Schezwan:

One of my favourite items on a wedding menu back home is the pork schezwan. This Indo-Chinese dish is so much a part of Mangalorean weddings that every once in a while you will see it featured on the menu. Although a few peop...

My Daily Meal is a new series that will showcase meal ideas that don't revolve around Mangalorean cuisine alone. I will be posting simple meal ideas that involve dishes that are multi cuisine, are less laborious and can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

My Daily Meal#1
My Daily Meal#1 Folks, sometime ago I had asked my readers on my Facebook page about whether they would like to see plated meals that showcase cuisines from other parts of India and the world. I received a lot of posi...

Here's the recipe of a very simple, basic sponge cake that can be served with tea or used as a base for a trifle pudding. Deliciously simple with a lovely hint of lemon zest.

Madeira Cake

Simple, basic cakes rule the roost at my place. This is mainly because the hubby doesn't prefer fancy schmancy cakes with frosting and all and the kids don't like anything apart from chocolate cakes or cupcakes. I end up alte...

Delicious and succulent pieces of tender goat meat simmered in a pot of spices and coconut milk accompanied with piping hot red boiled rice. Is there a better way to enjoy a traditional Mangalorean meal? Do try it this weekend!
Today started on a really good note. I was woken up by my little son who had his arms around me. He had sneaked up into my bed. My little daughter was still fast asleep when I woke up. The benefit of waking up early on a Frid...
