Deliciously simple! Try it this Eid! Advance wishes for a blessed Eid!
A couple of months ago the hubby came across an easy biryani recipe which he wanted me to try out. Till the time I tried it I didn't consider biryani making an 'easy' process but I was stumped after I tried this one. The best...

A herbal decoction (kasai/kashaya) made from one of the most bitter herbs, the King of Bitters (Andrographis Paniculata) used to be a customary and compulsory part of every Mangalorean household a few decades ago. It's about time we brought this tradition back into our homes because of its immense health benefits. Read more!
While I was welcomed by the lush greenery on Mangalore's landscape last week, the heat was unbearable. Rains were intermittent, almost non existent and we prayed for a few showers every night to help us sleep less uncomfortab...

Fritters are so much a part of Indian monsoons and nothing can beat the experience of biting into a piping hot bonda smothered with chutney. What's even better is washing it all down with some hot chai - that's when the spice really hits you! smile emoticon
If its pouring cats and dogs where you live, you must make these beetroot bondas!

I am back with another Mangalorean favourite that aptly belongs to the Kapi Falhaar series - the Beetroot Bonda which is also known as the Vegetable or Mixed Veg Bonda in Mangalore. Basic bondas (or fritters) are made with a ...

Most Mangaloreans I know love their pork as much as they love their seafood. When it comes to pork I think we have very few dishes that are traditional so perhaps this is the reason why Indo-Chinese versions of pork are making their way into our cuisine, at least as far as party menus are concerned.

Make this as a starter or as a side dish, you are bound to fall in love with it either way!

Pork Schezwan:

One of my favourite items on a wedding menu back home is the pork schezwan. This Indo-Chinese dish is so much a part of Mangalorean weddings that every once in a while you will see it featured on the menu. Although a few peop...

My Daily Meal is a new series that will showcase meal ideas that don't revolve around Mangalorean cuisine alone. I will be posting simple meal ideas that involve dishes that are multi cuisine, are less laborious and can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

My Daily Meal#1
My Daily Meal#1 Folks, sometime ago I had asked my readers on my Facebook page about whether they would like to see plated meals that showcase cuisines from other parts of India and the world. I received a lot of posi...

Delicious and healthy. I am never going back to store bought bread again! (hopefully, hehe!)
I am back with another bread folks! This month's theme is oatmeal which I am sure everyone on our baking group welcomed. Since I had baked with oatmeal before I was looking forward to it using it again, this time in a bread. ...

A super delicious pudding that tastes best when chilled. Traditional, healthy and guilt free snack/dessert. It's gluten free, vegan and contains no refined sugar! Sounds too good to be true? Eat it to believe it!
I know that I have said this many many times before but one of the most satisfying aspects of blogging are the kind of people you get to 'meet' along the way and how they end up becoming a special part of your life. Over a pe...

Delicious & moist banana bread with a hint of coffee and loads of chocolate. Perfect tea time snack cum midnight snack cum dessert! Couldn't ask for more!
There are no prizes for guessing why I am adding another banana bread to my collection. Bananas that have no takers usually find their way into Mangalore buns or banana breads at my place. This time its a bundt with some gana...

Sifting through my recipe archives I realised that I had a few recipes from 2012 that I hadn't posted yet. These are from the post natal recipe collection which I believe will be lost and forgotten if I don't post them right away - well, we are almost halfway into 2015 and it was about time!
Sambarachi Pez is a rice gruel flavoured with everyday spices such as coriander, pepper, cumin, mustard and carom seeds (ajwain). Hope it helps all you new moms out there looking for recipes to add to your post delivery menu.

If you love and crave for Indo-Chinese food and like to make it yourself then this sauce is a must in your pantry. Made with simple everyday ingredients and little effort this recipe is a keeper. What's more, it is so versatile that you can use it to whip up something as simple as a pulao with an oriental twist in practically no time!
Since the past few months the husband has been trying his hand at making Indo Chinese dishes and making great progress at it! Now it is one thing to make Chinese food with ready made sauces and yet another to make the base sa...
