Review from yesterday:

Our 45' high cube rent to own container was delivered by 10am. The delivery team was professional and left without problems. They appreciated our assistance. The orange container looks pretty good on our property. (Pic attached).

Just wanted to give you an update and thank YOU for your assistance!

Last fall, Kansas City Art Institute grads Cambria Potter and Hannah Lodwick purchased two #shippingcontainers and had them hauled to a parking lot in Kansas City. They’ve spent the last year navigating the city’s permitting process and converting the shipping containers into an art gallery. That space, an art gallery called 50/50, holds its grand opening this weekend. If you're in KC, why not drop by and lend your support! http://www.5050kc.com/

#Detroit  continues to be on the front lines of shipping container-based construction, aka ‪#‎cargotecture‬. A group of childhood friends is currently working out the final details on a project that will erect a nearly 10,000-square-foot restaurant collective and beer garden somewhere in Detroit's midtown neighborhood.

South Africa suffers from a huge housing shortage. Berman-Kalil Housing Concepts, a Cape Town-based company, is looking to offer a sustainable housing solution through converting decommissioned #shippingcontainers  into low-cost homes. However, they're putting a new, unique twist on the idea. Check them out in this article: http://www.howwemadeitinafrica.com/south-african-company-making-shipping-containers-feel-like-a-real-house/50948/

First proposed in 2008, an innovative project to use empty shipping containers to build new housing in ‪ #Detroit is finally getting underway. Construction began in April on a three-story model unit on Trumbull in the Corktown neighborhood. Built by a firm called Three Squared, the project is designed as the first of several larger  #shippingcontainers      projects to come in the district, now that the effects of the Great Recession and other challenges have finally been overcome. Here's the story published in the Detroit Free Press: http://www.freep.com/story/money/business/michigan/2015/04/16/shipping-container-detroit-housing-urban-innovation-corktown/25888803/

When we hear about shipping container buildings, we're typically fed a narrative about the uniqueness of their architectural method rather than the applied benefits of reducing housing costs and accessibility. This article by Kyle Kirkpatrick of NJ.com discusses the problem of perception when using #shippingcontainers for home construction, the practicality of such and breaking through the local ordinances that prohibit the very use of repurposed, used containers as ‪homes. An interesting read indeed: http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/08/shipping_container_homes_can_provide_a_solution_to.html
