This bamboo tumbleweed is designed to clear landmines. This futuristic tumbleweed is actually a minesweeper 'Mine Kafon' is a "low-cost wind-powered mine detonator with the appearance of a giant, spiky-armed tumbleweed."

There's an estimated 110 million mines still buried around the world. The inventor of 'Mine Kafon' – MASSOUD HASSANI - a former Afghan refugee – hopes it will inspire others to join the effort to make the world mine-free by 2027

Wall of clouds on Lake Michigan

I'm pretty if I woke up, looked out my window and saw this I'd think a giant tsunami was coming my way. But fear not! It's just some clouds, and they're beautiful too :)

Mt. Wilson in the Fall
Telluride, Colorado

Without a doubt, Fall in Colorado is my favorite time of the year. While I am fortunate to photograph locations all over this planet, I ALWAYS try to make time to shoot the fall colors in the Rockies. This photo is of Mt. Wilson and was taken as an epic storm blew through the the Telluride Valley last year. Surprisingly I had 3g service in this location and actually hosted a live Google+ Hangout while I took this photograph...something I am planning on doing again this year.

If you live in Colorado or are interested in taking your photo editing skills to the next level, be sure to take a look at the Beyond Exposure Workshop series that I am hosting with +Jay Patel and +Varina Patel in Denver on September 29th and 30th of this year. More info can be found here: http://www.colbybrownphotography.com/photography-workshops/beyond-exposure-denver-colorado/

Photo Info:
Camera: Canon 1D Mark IV
Lens: Canon 70-200 2.8L IS II
ISO: 200
Exposure: f / 11 at 1/100 of a second

Photo Editing Info:
This image was edited purely in Adobe Lightroom. I started out by lightly darkening the shadows as well as adding a touch on contrast. I then used the "Whites" and "Blacks" slider to fine tune the contrast of the image between the highlights and shadows. I then added a little vibrance and a dash of saturation while bringing back a little more of the warmer tones using the WB brush in the localized adjustments section. Lastly I used the clone tool and removed dust spots and a few out of place trees in at the bottom of the frame.

Products Used:
Adobe Lightroom (+Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
Wacom Intuos 5 Medium Tablet (+Wacom Americas )

Pow! ZOOM! To the Moon!

Astrophotographer Pete Lawrence took some amazing pictures of the Moon, including the one below from 2009. Using images he took on August 10, 2012, he also created a jaw dropping mosaic of the Moon where you can zoom in and scan around. It's amazing to look at... and even more amazing when you realize it's made up of 166,000 separate images!
