What's a "pear" of volunteer Health Ambassadors to do? Nutrition Educator Alex N. shared this story: "Surprisingly, a concern of some of our senior clients is the amount of produce that they receive. We shared a delicious and healthy way to use up those extra pears. Have these caramelized pears for breakfast by adding plain yogurt, or even as a healthy dessert. The toasted oats added a nice touch!" #healthyeating #nutritioneducation

Nutrition Education Manager Alex N. took this photo: "This is an action shot at the Samaritan House Food Pharmacy. My wonderful volunteer Health Ambassadors, Ellen and Pepa, go there every month and prepare a tasty food demo with the foods that clients receive that day. The dishes always have some type of protein - ground turkey, tofu, quinoa, or lentils - and are loaded with veggies." #healthyeating

Every Monday, St Joseph’s Family Center in Gilroy offers fresh produce to 300-400 households. These volunteers from Christopher Ranch helped out at the site. When asked why they were volunteering, they responded, “We really wanted to take part on the ground floor and see what the need is in our community. We believe it is part of our corporate responsibility to support those in need and that goes beyond writing a check. We enjoyed the help we could give.” #grateful #giveback #volunteer

Through community partnerships, kids can enjoy free, healthy summer meals at places like the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club, libraries, churches, community centers, school districts and public parks.
