Would you have guessed that the biggest takeaway from the 2015 Social Media Marketing World conference was the value of building relationships?

Check out +Adrienne Smith's post and join the conversation to see relationship building in action.
#SMMW15 was this past March and it was a huge conference. I recently learned the most exciting takeaway from it though from several that attended. Eager to learn what they thought?

+Don Purdum offers his perspective on differentiating pretenders from true experts. As we all know, there are lots of bloggers who pretend to be experts when in fact, they're regurgitating information that we can find elsewhere. They can be dangerous and lead us astray.
These days it seems there are experts for everything and they are all clamoring for your attention and dollars. Some are real and some are pretenders who want to be real experts.

I'm confident that everyone reading this is aware that on April 21st, Google is releasing an algorithm update that measures "mobile-friendliness" as a ranking signal.

I've pulled together a few resources to help my blog readers get an overview of what is involved and how this could potentially affect us. I hope some of you find this helpful.

Are your sites responsive? Mine isn't and while I thought that the WPtouch mobile plugin that I had been using was sufficient, my site failed the Google "mobile-friendly" test. (My plan is to redesign my site with a responsive theme.)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? BTW - One of my resource links is to a discussion that +Rand Fishkin is having on his Google+ page. There's a healthy discussion going on there as to the potential impact this will have.

Have you noticed unusual sources of referral traffic in your Google Analytics? Could it be bots, ghost visitors and spam?

This sort of traffic will skew your analytics. Here's an excellent post by +Clair Wyant  that shows you how to tweak your analytics to exclude this information.
A step-by-step instruction tutorial on how to filter visitors who aren't real, but are spam, bots or ghost visitors.

Do you need to grow your email list? (I do.)
It's no secret that email subscribers are key to growing a successful online business. With that in mind, building a list of subscribers should be a priority regardless of whether you are running a blog, e-commerce site, membership site, or any other type of website. Being able to stay in touch ...

Do your websites provide a good UX (user experience)? How do your sites display on mobile devices? Now that Google has set April 21st as the roll-out date to use "mobile-friendliness" as a ranking signal, we need to make sure our houses are in order. The good news is that this algorithm change will only affect mobile searches and not desktop searches.

Are you ready?

Today at SMX Munich, Google Webmaster Trends Analyst Zineb Ait Bahajji was in the hot seat about the new Google mobile ranking changes that are coming next month.  And she dropped a bombshell on just how much of an impact this new ranking signal will have on the search results. One of the big questions …

Starting April 21st, Google will be using "mobile-friendliness" as a ranking signal. Is your site ready? (mine isn't)
Is passing Google's mobile-friendly test good enough to ensure that your site is optimized the best it can be?

+Sherryl Perry I even saw a notice from a host. More about the popularity of the plugin and having to scream to get some folks to listen at all. And, as you mentioned, would have been taken care of for them, so not really understanding all the hoopla outside of popularity.
