Great advice for marriages from Kurt Smith. #alwaystogether   #inseparable
Keeping a Healthy Distance

In 2008, the New York Times published an article about a couple that vowed to never be more than 15 feet apart from each other, day or night. They shared everything – a plate when they ate, a book when they read, etc. But all that togetherness was apparently too much -- the marriage lasted just twelve years.

Spending time away from your partner is healthy. It is important to separate off and do your own thing. Pursue individual interests. Hang out with friends. When you come back together, your relationship will be better for it.

Throughout our lifetimes, we as individuals will change. But our relationships don’t have to. Sure, relationships adjust and adapt a bit. But our loyalty and commitment to each other doesn’t need to change just because we have.

If being inseparable is part of your routine, consider taking some time to do something on your own. Your relationship will be better because of it.
