Hi Everyone! +Gene Bowker
started something the other day and I thought I would join in. It's been fun to see why people are here and I am here for similar reasons to a lot of you.
I am originally from Wisconsin but grew up in New York and Indiana and then ended up in Kansas. I have always been interested in photography from grainy 110 film to 3D. I took some photography classes back in college and had my own dark room for years so my roots are in B&W mainly. Digital photography has made things easier in a lot of ways but also allows for more innovation.
I listen to +Leo Laporte
's tech shows all the time and +Trey Ratcliff
was on there in the early days of Google + stating what a great place it was for photographers. I had never done any social type media, I am probably one of the very few who still has never been on Facebook but I decided to check it out.
I got in during the time when it was through invites only and checked it out. I saw people posting some wonderful things by circling other photographers that Trey Ratcliff had circled. I have since made my own but still with recommendations from others with similar interests as mine.
I am here because the interaction I can get with people from all over the world with similar interests as mine is just fabulous. I am inspired all the time to try something new because of work I have seen here, in fact I shared one just this week. I find that part wonderful because we should always try new things.
It's sad to see that some I followed in the early days are no longer here. I can understand though, sometimes G+ is horribly frustrating in how it works at times and maybe why they were here was for different reasons. For now though I deal with G+ frustrations because the interaction to me is invaluable. I keep learning and growing and that's a really good thing. So that's why I am here.
This is a sunset from early last August. Hope you enjoy it and have a great day!
