Introduction
Shelly Banjo is a reporter at Quartz, an Atlantic Media Corporation. At Qz.com, she writes about the future of finance, focusing on how technology, changes in consumer behavior, and regulation are fundamentally reshaping banking, investing, currencies, and payments.

Previously, she worked at the Wall Street Journal, where she covered corporate and economic news with a focus on the retail industry from The Wall Street Journal's New York office.  There, she wrote feature stories and covered breaking news about companies like Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Costco Wholesale Corp. and Home Depot Inc., as well as retail industry topics such as big-box stores, e-commerce, digital marketing, supply chain and logistics, labor, economics and consumer spending.

At the Journal, she also worked on the launch of Greater New York, the Journal’s metro section, and wrote about philanthropy, charities, wealth management and personal finance.

She has an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a specialty in global economics and a bachelor's degree in Journalism and International Studies from Northwestern University. She was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in Dallas, Texas.
