A little while back we were featured in a lifestyle magazine for Northern Virginia - check it out (the online edition shows the Claiborne House as the main image)

I will paste the print magazine that I took a photo of for our Media page as the image with this link. InnkeeperVA took the mandolin dude photo below and 4 more in the article... http://www.arlingtonmagazine.com/…/Virginias-Crooked-Road-…/

Proudly own and operate The Claiborne House Bed and Breakfast in Rocky Mount Virginia along with my incredible husband Tony.
Introduction
Co-owner with my Aussie-American husband Tony of The Claiborne House Bed and Breakfast in Virginia. Married for 27 years with two beautiful daughters, one cat Miss Maybelle and a dog named Junie.

I am a blogger through and through, after 12 years of innkeeping, blogging has helped me to find my niche.

I am an avid outdoor photographer and nature lover, and after moving to Virginia I discovered the Commonwealth was the ideal place to sharpen my focus. I became a Virginia Master Naturalist purely to help better understand my surroundings, where I live and how to better identify and communicate what I see around me in these beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

I hope you will follow my blog and enjoy the ride.

Always hot, always fresh with a lack of greasy fried Chinese food, we love it every time. We have a great waiter most of the time who is always smiling and telling us thank you. Pleasant experience, never overly crowded and chaotic like another boofay in town.

Like every take out place you need to know what to order and for us it is the mongolian chicken or pork and moo shoo pork and chicken lo mein. We seem to do okay with these items. Order them spicy (and they will add some chilis) and you will have some good flavor. There is no other option for us locally in Rocky Mount for Chinese food, so we appreciate having Peking Chinese in town here. If anyone wants to open up a clean fresh Chinese restaurant in Rocky Mount, we invite you! Small towns don't offer a ton of choices, we know where to go in Roanoke and larger cities, but for take out here this is it. (The other place I won't even mention)

Spectacular off season stay at the lodge. From the delicious home-cooked breakfast to the quiet that surrounds the lodge it was one of the highlights of my trip to Missouri. There is a spectacular view of the sun coming up from the lodge's upstairs balcony if you rent that room. The hosts are fun and immediately make you feel welcome.

The White Cedar Inn is in an excellent location to explore Freeport. The inn is friendly, clean and they serve up a great breakfast! Monica is very helpful with things to see and do in the area, I recommend her blog which often features lighthouses and special sights within an hour's drive. My favorite room is the Winthrop Fog room as it has a king bed and overlooks main street outside your window. It is great to read a book in the rocker and people watch. You won't find better value in Freeport, or friendlier hosts!

There is no better place to stay in Pocahontas! Right in the center of town to walk to everything, the owner has thought of amenities most have not thought of, and has outfitted this guesthouse immaculately! There is simply no comparison the value found at Lesmeister Guesthouse compared to a hotel "room" you will immediately feel the difference, it is like coming home! Only it is a luxurious home.

Beautiful new Virginia state park on the James River. Great for primitive camping, fishing and paddling. The day use area has a little playground for the kids and trails to walk or hike with the dog! I highly recommend a visit to this state park.

Thomas Shepherd Inn is my top choice when I visit Shepherdstown WV. The location is perfect to walk to the theater, shops and restaurants. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, yet allow privacy and space. The perfect combination for a perfect stay! Breakfast was homemade and delicious. Jeanne uses fresh fruit and local ingredients, which we appreciate! I would stay there again if ever in the area, and I recommend them to you!
