“We’re very close,” says Shelby Knox, a 28-year-old woman in New York who grew up in Lubbock, Texas. “We never really went through that period that moms and daughters go through where they fight.” -- Happy Mother's Day, mom! I talked to a national news outlet about us. ;)
The psychological and cultural gap between generations has shrunk, but does that mean the easy-going intimacy between mothers and daughters should be boundary-free?

Today the young feminists of SPARK Summit are shining the spotlight on the huge gender and racial disparities in who gets honored with Google Doodles. Check out their campaign: www.change.org/DoodleUs and their extensive (and disturbing) research + more awesome infographics: http://www.sparksummit.com/doodleus/

There's been a lot of pearl clutching about the role of the selfie in young women's never ending decline into self hatred that's obviously a symptom of the death of feminism. But SPARK's Sam Holmes is daring to expose the dark epidemic no one else is talking about: the Teenage Boy Selfie (TBS).

Today's Google Doodle honors computer science pioneer Grace Hopper! Great to see  #dudeles honoring great women but women are 50% of the population and 50% of history -- hope to see parity in representation in 2014!

According to the FBI, men and transgender people can't be raped and date rape and rape by coercion don't count either. Ms. Magazine and Change.org activists are calling on the FBI to update their antiquated definition of rape.

"Gloria taught me, through kind words and powerful (though often unheralded) actions, what it means to be an effective feminist organizer. She taught me that any organizing effort must be informed and led by the people most impacted, with allies asking what they can do to help and doing it without seeking the spotlight. She’s instilled in me the truth that we are linked not ranked; all oppressions must be attacked at the same time and with the same intensity in a true revolution. I’ve watched her lead countless brainstorm sessions over the years, edit books and documents, help people fundraise and make connections, sometimes lending her name to the work if it helps and handing it over without any qualms if it does not. She’s shown me that the end goal of feminist organizing is action and the most important thing we can do is help others do the work however we can." -- my contribution to this moving piece dedicated to my mentor and friend, Gloria Steinem, on her 80th birthday. Check it out here: http://msmagazine.com/blog/2014/03/25/what-gloria-steinem-means-to-me/

I love to see this title to an +Upworthy  piece: "Are You Ready To See A Bunch Of Badass Women Make History On A Native American Reservation?" HELLS YES! I love it even more when it's spotlighting the young feminists of Young Lakota, Sunny Clifford and Serena Clifford! So proud to know you ladies and so proud to have worked with the Young Lakota team: Jessica Danforth, Rose Rosenblatt, Marion Lipschutz, Chloe Haimson, and Nora Christiani!
He said women are "disrespecting themselves" for trying to access this info. These women disagree.

I adore Cards Against Humanity so I was shocked to find out they have no female writers. Luckily, my fabulous, funny friend +Kate Stayman-London  has created the feminist version, Ladies Against Humanity. No, really, check it out. And submit your own cards! #feminism #funny

As the sports world moves on to celebrating Jameis Winston's likely Heisman win, survivors and allies are still wondering why it took 11 months and TMZ sniffing around for the Tallahassee Police Department to turn over the rape case against the star quarterback over to the state attorney. Join the campaign calling for an investigation of TPD's handing of the Winston case: http://chn.ge/1f05Qs4 #rapeculture

I'm incredibly honored to be interviewed in this month's issue of The Smart Girls Group Magazine about the Forth Wave of feminism and the amazing work that young feminists, like the girls of SPARK Summit, are doing to change the world! You can check it out here: http://bit.ly/1cSWJYd

New York City workers without paid sick days are in danger of losing their jobs if they or a family member gets sick. In the NY Daily News today, Ai-Jen Poo and I call on Mayor Christine Quinn to stop blocking paid sick days legislation or risk losing the backing of the women's movement she's relying on to support her bid to become the city's first woman mayor.
