Hi Michael - really interesting series of posts. I was at the presentation at LAK and was quite taken with the labels the Stanford team had come up with. In fact I was so impressed I a deconstruction of my own disengagement with MOOCs (see http://blogs.cetis.ac.uk/sheilamacneill/2013/04/16/deconstructing-my-disengagement-with-moocs-part-2/) and I have used this in several presentations to share my experiences of MOOCs (http://prezi.com/smxltrc-suds/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy).

The University of Southampton have launched a digital literacies toolkit,  which will be of interest to members of this group. A bit more information is available via my blog post.

Four of the projects from the current JISC Developing Digital Literacies programme took part in a webinar yesterday which is now available online http://bit.ly/12xgTQX.  Think the issues they share will resonate with lots of people in this group

fascinating reflection on engaging with  digital literacies/technologies within University College of the Arts,  London. I suspect most institutions have similar experiences
In terms of DIAL college wide engagement CSM (POI project – BA Performance Design and Practice) and LCF (video presentation skills - MA Fashion Entrepreneurship) have had a majority of local engagement and these were through course engagement involving course staff as apposed to college ...

Hi Peter, I've had very similar thoughts to you. I've signed up for 12 MOOCs and completed 3. The ones I've completed are ones which I've considered as staff development and so have made time and commitment to do them. As I've become more confident and comfortable with MOOCs environments I've made very strategic decisions about what I will/won't do. It's my learning so I'm taking control kind of attitude. That includes doing things slightly differently than what the course designers have planned. A good example of this was with the OLDSMOOC course. Instead of creating a learning design, I actually redesigned the cloudworks homepage. But in the process I did something I was interested in, and that others were too.  I was also speaking about this early this week at a conference in Southampton see my prezi for a few more thoughts http://prezi.com/pzbi2_v0ipw8/why-did-i-want-to-mooc/?kw=view-pzbi2_v0ipw8&rc=ref-71415
