If we gave the poor cash directly, instead of food and services, would they waste that money on drugs and alcohol?

Studies repeatedly show that they generally will not waste the money. Why not trust the poor to do what they think is best with the money we donate to them?
Help the poor by giving them money. They won’t waste it.

I read an online version of that story a few weeks back.  Pretty interesting, and, yes, more interesting than the toast.

This Wikipedia article turned out surprisingly funny!

The Times once published an unintentionally humorous description of a Peter Ustinov documentary, noting that "highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector."
In English punctuation, a serial comma or series comma (also called Oxford comma and Harvard comma) is a comma placed immediately before the coordinating conjunction (usually and, or, or nor) in a series of three or more terms. Lawrence Lessig is trying to kickstart a Super PAC to end Super PACs, to give political influence to everyday people and encourage small contributions from large numbers of people.

It's a cool experiment and I, for one, would love to see it succeed. Does it sound interesting to you? Pledge to donate before July 4.
