Every time I read something about how Battlefield 3 will work on consoles I'm a bit happier that I plan on buying it on the PC. I know there's a lot of drama about it, but I want to have a new game to push my PC, and I love huge multiplayer matches.
Sure, it won't be on Steam, but why should that even matter? If I want a game on the PC I'll buy it where I can. Maybe it's because I don't have too many real-life friends that play games that I enjoy online. That and Steamworks are the only big advantages to Steam that I see, so I have no problem booting up Origin to buy the EA games I like. I'm probably gonna have to do it for Mass Effect 3 as well.
