Next sweet plugin, MCTO, improves compile times by 50-75% depending on how many plugins you're using. Dropped my prototype of Bardbarian from 6.5s to 3s!
How valuable is your time? Do you know that Unity can compile your project's code changes much faster than it does now? Meet Mad Compile Time Optimizer. A tool which will reorganize your project directory in a way that will speed up your project's compile times up to 70%*! This is a lot of hours of recovered time each month! * - The actual speed gain depends on your project setup. How is it working? There's nothing magical in here. MCTO will m...

Currently some nice Unity Plugins on sale for FREE! uIntelliSense and Advanced Fps Monitor, both normally $10, free right now.  Not sure why, but I'll take it!
https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/22906 https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/14656
Note: JavaScript/UnityScript is not supported. uIntelliSense brings all the power of IntelliSense code hints to your Unity C# code. Have you ever forgot the exact meaning of some method parameter, or stumbled upon a method you've never used before? Don't you think that searching through Scripting Reference is way too much work when all you really have to do is to hover over the code with your mouse?.. And this is exactly what uIntelliSense is ...

Welcome back followers of the fearsome! This week a bit more tech stuff. When we were play testing our game, we had a problem with the screen being too busy/attention grabbing at times. It was hard to see what to focus on, as your eyes would get drawn to parts of the screen that didn't ...

I like it, even if I'm normally all about crisp high detail pixel art.

I wonder if solar powered houses take off, will houses with southern facing roofs be a premium. Architecture will likely change to favor perfect angles towards the sun.

Run this in Unity, to generate 120bytes of garbage / frame.
List<int> ints = new List<int> { 1 };
void Update(){
    foreach (var i in ints) { };//40bytes
    foreach (var i in ints) { };//each loop
    foreach (var i in ints) { };//No matter how many iterations...
}
Lame right!? Really lookin forward to that upgraded compiler...

Went shopping at the Unity Asset Store again :)  First Up: A sweet little plugin to get rid of those Magic Strings :D
Website | Forum Thread | Documentation One principle advantage of type safety is catching errors at compile time. TypeSafe brings this same advantage to your Unity-powered game when loading resources, scenes or using layers and tags. ∙ Automatically scans your project and generates strong-typed classes than can be used to replace raw strings in your code. ∙ Using these safe classes ensures that any resource, layer or scene you try and use i...

This looks like fun :)
Check out the live demo here! Read more and ask questions about this asset at the Unity forums here Sonic Ether's Natural Bloom & Dirty Lens is an image effect for Unity Pro (required) that simulates subsurface scattering of light inside of a lens and renders a per-pixel dirty lens effect. SENBDL is bloom done right--no threshold or brightpass. Real life doesn't scatter light differently based on how bright it is, and neither should bloom in y...

Ouch, GameSpot hammers us for being too hard... while completely forgetting to mention we have an Easy Mode. Sure glad we put in all that work to make it fun for casual players!
This 8-bit throwback perfectly emulates the era, for better and for worse.

ya, another weird point of the article, the game runs at 60fps on a friggin ultrabook, not sure what rig he was playing on... I know there's a couple of bog down points that can occur, but nothing major.
