Looking for an excuse for success: A lot of times, a player will fail a roll, and I'll humm and haww and try to figure out some way of getting out of the failure. Sometimes, I think maybe I've made a mistake and asked for a roll when I should have just said yes and moved on, but more often it's because I feel bad that they player failed. I try and be a fan of the players, and I want them to succeed and be awesome all the time, and I often forget that sometimes, dealing with failure is an opportunity for awesome.
I don't want to conflate this with the times when a player has a pregenerated character, or doesn't fully understand the system and misses a bonus or something like that.
Here's some of what I caught at the finish line of the AIDS/LifeCycle ride this weekend!
