To brand or not to brand, that is the SharePoint Online Question by @speheather http://blog.sharepointexperience.com/2015/01/to-brand-or-not-to-brand/
There has been quite the chatter happening on the ole' interweb lately surrounding the topic of branding and site customization for SharePoint Online (SPO). The overall message people keep hearing is “don't use custom master pages for SharePoint Online.” Since branding is my schtick, ...

This is a SharePoint class for the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers who insist on saying, “Enough with .NET! Enough with all those third party web parts! I am a SharePoint Hacker and I can do it myself using nothing but a web browser and a text editor!”

Instructor Dustin Miller has put together a course based on his ten plus years of experience poking, prodding, hacking and manipulating SharePoint. This course is designed for client-side web developers; SharePoint hackers and tweakers; and .NET developers who’ve had enough of the labor and overhead of writing and deploying custom web parts.

Holy cow there is a lot of CSS in SharePoint! And there is a heck of a lot that you can do with it! The vast majority of branding SharePoint involves using CSS to add style and restyle SharePoint components. Master pages get all the fame but CSS is where the action is happening. Get your SharePoint branding kick-started with the SharePoint CSS Experience and learn how to rebrand SharePoint using nothing but CSS.

There are a ton of resources online for learning about properties and their values (such as background and color). This course focuses on identifying and writing the selectors and combining the right properties to get the desired effect – the stuff that frustrates most people about CSS.

Solid advice provided: ALA: A Vision for Our Sass http://alistapart.com/article/a-vision-for-our-sass
Sass is a powerful tool in helping us wrangle complex stylesheets. Yet it has its headaches—including troublesome nesting of CSS selectors, code duplication, and tight coupling—that result in messy outputted CSS. Universal standards aren’t a viable answer, as the Sass spec continues to quickly change and grow. Felicity Evans holds that the problem isn’t Sass itself, but the way we use it. In this article, she champions a set of tenets that offers...

Don’t be wooed by the excitement of the Design Manager in SharePoint 2013. There is still no magic EASY button for SharePoint branding. But it doesn’t have to be hard either. In this class you will learn how not to be intimidated by .NET code while successfully branding your SharePoint site to make it look how you want – layout, colors, fonts, you name it. You got the design and now you need the where and how.
