My latest post: #HiddenFigures shows the continual battle between progress and bigotry. Check it out!

http://shareefjackson.com/blog/2017/1/9/hiddenfigures-shows-science-vs-discrimination
Hidden Figures, a movie based on Margot Lee Shetterly's novel about the Black women who helped send the first American into space, is essentially about a group of phenomenal women who worked harder and longer than their counterparts. Facing the intersection of racism and misogyny was a significant barrier to their ability to contribute to the best of their ability. But still, they rise. I'm a sucker for movies about space, but I was ...

Today's #GamingLooksGood video focuses on the intro to the women of #Mafia3. Cassandra and Alma are amazing characters and I can't wait to see how they evolve throughout the story.

Huge news - my hip hop and coding piece (http://boingboing.net/2015/06/09/how-hip-hop-can-teach-you-to-c.html) is being featured in a collection of gaming's best stories of 2015. It's a nice hardcover book and is being funded via Kickstarter - please donate and share if you can!

HUGE announcement!

I’ve left corporate America to start my own full time math tutoring service! It’s a little nerve wracking and scary, but I’m following my passion.

I believe that every student can do well in math. We use math successfully every day, from counting money to determining what time we need to be somewhere. Unfortunately, that doesn't always translate to math class performance. By using examples that are relevant to the modern student's life, I make sure that a student can connect math problems with every day experiences and understand them on a conceptual level.

I offer in person sessions in the greater Milwaukee metropolitan area, as well as online video sessions via Skype or Google Hangout anywhere in the world.

For more info, check out MathLooksGood.com. Send me an email at MathLooksGood@gmail.com, and follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook at username MathLooksGood. Peace.

Part 3 of my diversity in #Mafia3 video series is up! Many similarities to racial struggle today, including the impact your actions have on the greater Black population in the game. Specifically, theres a case involving two unarmed Black men killed by a white man asking for help that echoes the Renisha McBride case #GamingLooksGood

New video! #GLG25: Diversity in Mafia III pi1 #GamingLooksGood
#Mafia3 is a new game that takes place in fictional version of New Orleans in the 60s. You play as a Black man, so the racial and gender issues of the time are important for the developers to get right. Check out my review of the first few hours.

New GamingLooksGood video!
#23: Tom Clancy's The Division

Shareef hops back on the 161 from Paterson, NJ to NYC to check out Tom Clancy's latest military shooter. He discusses default whiteness in character creators, a good way to handle homosexuality in games, and how Larae Barrett represents a POC role that is sorely needed in more video games.

I've released a new video in my GamingLooksGood series on video game diversity. In Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U, I search for the small fro hairstyle, roll hard with an awesome woman of color at my side, and get my dance on (seriously).

Very good, predictable Mexican food. Get a steak burrito and a BlackBerry Izze - perfect comfort food when going through tough times.

Very meager cheesesteaks ... plenty of better options on the city. Go to Jim's if you're on South St.
