This week, I’m recommending a book I stayed up until the wee hours last night finishing: Descent by Tim Johnston. On a family vacation in Colorado, an eighteen-year-old girl goes for a run on a deserted mountain road, accompanied by her younger brother on…

Netflix’s Stranger Things has captivated audiences with its sense of nostalgia, drawing from the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and Stephen King. With the first season out and finished,...

I had been trying to recommend a new read each month, and I still fell behind on my recommendations. So of course I’m upping my goal to recommending a new read each week! Starting with this one… Does Ursula K. Le Guin write bad books? If so, I haven’t…

It's okay to stop reading that book.

I'm not sure I like as much sodomy as +Chuck Wendig but I have similar issues with a lot of books I've tried to read of late.
I don't read novels like I used to. I want to, but can't. That's for a lot of reasons -- for one, it's time. I write a lot. I have a five-year-old. Life intrudes. My reading is also broader, now. W...

My kind of reader: "I have a deep-rooted love of all things disturbing, twisted, and terrifying, and I take enormous pleasure in creeping out my coworkers."
This is a guest post from Katie McLain. When I was little, my parents never told me “no” when I asked for a book, and I think that’s what started most of my problems. I have a BA in Creative

Comics have gotten very interesting lately.
Marvel has announced Black Panther: World of Wakanda, an anthology series co-written by feminist critic Roxane Gay and poet Yona Harvey.
