Mapping network drives isn't as easy in Ubuntu as it is in Windows.

This guide isn't bad though and not too hard to follow. I used this to permanently map a few network shares on my NAS.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently
This document describes how to mount CIFS shares permanently. The shares might be hosted on a Windows computer/server, or on a Linux/UNIX server running Samba. This document also applies to SMBFS shares, which are similar to CIFS but are deprecated and should be avoided if possible (link).

I think it's just a novelty toy. I want it just to have next to the TV. Looks cool. I've seen where Sega sells a similar Genesis toy too

I  noticed a lot of the fish sold at Aldi and Walmart come from China and I always avoided buying it because I figured something like this to be the case.

At Ngoc Sinh Seafoods Trading & Processing Export Enterprise, a seafood exporter on Vietnam’s southern coast, workers stand on a dirty floor sorting shrimp one hot September day. There’s trash on the floor, and flies crawl over baskets of processed shrimp stacked in an unchilled room in Ca Mau.

If you have an external monitor that connects with USB3 only (for display and power), here's how you get it up and running on Ubuntu.

Worked like a charm on the - ASUS MB168B HD Portable USB-Powered Monitor.

If you’re going to haze a fellow teammate and former Marine for driving an hour in rush hour traffic, only to show up for work without his laptop, this is how you do it. Compliments of Chuck Pearsall, a colorful and jovial soul…

A nice reminder not to let companies auto debit your checking account, and if it is on like Comcast with a poor track record for customer service, maybe set a reminder to just pay manually every month.
Comcast wrongly debited early termination fee, provided no refund for 18 months.

Wait a minute... aren't these the same guys who raid the houses of security researches who alert them of insecure PII found out in the open on the web?
The FBI is facing accusations that malware it deployed while running Operation Playpen, a sting that infiltrated and maintained a dark web child pornography website for two weeks and eventually led to more than 100 arrests, was illegal. But the agency swears that using malware was good because, well, the FBI had good intentions.

The PCR is on life support. The old, small form factor PSU died. Maybe time to move her to a bigger, more retro VCR case and add a modular power supply.

Great post giving insight into history and development of Plex.
The first small piece of the Plex Media Server was committed inauspiciously enough on September 20th, 2008, right after 11:30pm. I was probably tired, and possibly drunk. It was just eight months after the very first pre-alpha release of our OSXBMC media center app, which goes to show you how committed we were to making a server....

I think Josh talked me into giving it a go while it was still a free app (the first time) on Roku. It was still early beta in like 2009/10 and i messed with it a little.. but it wasn't getting me away from XBMC just yet.. then a few releases later.. never looked back.
