So tonight I discovered my dell laptop can at least be used as a shitty bat-sign projector. At least it's good for something!

My favorite feature of the Android L release so far: the ability to show battery % on the stock ROM - NO ROOT REQUIRED.

Previously on KitKat 4.4, there was a hidden flag that could be set via ADB, this flag showed how much battery was left in white text, however since the battery indicator itself was white, it was only visible after you had already used up around half of your battery.

It looks like in the Android L release, they have fixed this. Check out the screenshot below from my phone!

For anyone interested, the adb command to run (from your sdk's platform-tools/bin folder) is:

adb shell content insert --uri content://settings/system --bind name:s:status_bar_show_battery_percent --bind value:i:1

A reboot of your phone is required, then you're done!

Running android L developer preview on my nexus 5. The USB debugging symbol is interesting... (Usually it's the android version brand, eg it was a KitKat or a jelly bean for the last two releases)
