I spent the day in Longreach, Queensland and visited Iningai Nature Reserve. By the yellow around the beak and feet I'm thinking it's a Black Kite. Feel free to correct me. I'm always learning about the animals I photograph.

The male Variegated Fairy-wren (thank you +Bill Venables) is a beautiful little bird and stands out from many Australian birds in its colour. Cooby Dam, Queensland

I was driving to Cooby Dam, Queensland yesterday morning to (try to) shoot little birds. I saw an odd shape on the road. Turned out to be this little one crossing over. I don't see many Koalas around here so it was a pleasant surpirse to capture a photo. Do you see many of these in the wild? #australiannatives #australiannativeanimals #koala #toowoombaregion

A pair of Scaly-breasted Lorikeets are rearing their young at Peacehaven Botanic Park, Highfields, Queensland. If you're visting, you can see them near the pond. #australiannativebirds #toowoombaregion #peacehavenpark #australianbirds

Of the 50 species of Lories and lorikeets in the world, 7 are native to Australia. A pair of Scaly-breasted Lorikeets are rearing their young in a tree hollow at Peacehaven Park in Highfields, Queensland. If (when?) you visit, they're easy to see near the pond. #australiannativebirds #toowoombaregion #peacehavenpark #australianbirds

The Pied Currawong (Strepera graculina) doesn't have a great reputation. They prey on small birds and rob nests. That's nature though. They do have a great character and have made our back yard a regular stopover. #australiannativebirds #australianbirds #toowoombaregion

I think they called it a draw in the end. Noisy Miner vs Laughing Kookaburra. #australianbirds #australiannativebirds

We get quite a few bird species visiting our yard. These little ones pop in quite often for a drink and a bath. Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus). What is your favourite native animal that visits your backyard?
