Oye! Serious culture shock!
The worst part though, was the lack of home cooking. Thus, with grim determination, a copy of "The Joy of Cooking", and a complete disregard for my own safety.... I taught myself to cook.
It was either that, or a resort to a steady diet of Carl's Junior. Nine years of disasters and triumphs later, I figured it was time to blog about some of my culinary adventures and the love I have developed for cooking in Vintage Corningware. (Not that cheap stoneware stuff that World Kitchen makes now days)
Now, after 15 years in SoCal I have returned to the "Great North Wet" and a whole slew of ingredients that were unavailable in the Southland. Apples galore, Huckleberries, Fresh Hazelnuts, Wild Salmon, Sturgeon, Marion Berries. Endless bounty.
I tend to get a little opinionated, but my opinions are based on my life experiences. Please take it in stride, I am not trying to offend anyone and I certainly won't be offended if you don't agree with me. Everyone's experience on this blue marble is different, and diversity, as well as baked goods, makes the world go round.
