After many years of searching, it has come to pass.   One of my Holy Grail pieces has been realized.  Granted, I have multiple "Holy Grail" pieces.  From the P-116 Fall/Autumn Leaves Percolator to the P-48 Sectional Platter, ...

The time has come...    I have only mentioned the U-Series Corning Ware pieces in my ABCs of Corning Ware post, up until now.  Simply because, at the time of writing, the only piece I had seen was a 5 quart (U-5) piece on eBa...

I love quick breads, but one can only consume so much Orange Cranberry, Banana Nut, Zucchini and Oatmeal Raisin bread before one's sweet tooth becomes overloaded. This is one of my favorite savory versions. Drenched with butter, it is quite a treat and it makes and excellent breakfast bread to ...

Sort of a one dish meal....  At least from the Corning Ware perspective.  You still have to use a blender and possibly the Kitchen Aid mixer (unless you are pulling the chicken by hand, with 2 forks)   Please feel free, if yo...

It all started with a conversation on Facebook in one of the Corning Ware collector's groups...   Someone had found a 4 quart sauce pot with an elongated black star pattern on it.   None of us actually knew what the name of i...

This is one of those base recipes that can be altered as needed....  While I will admit, it is a little bit on the "rich" side.  Simply substitute pre-cooked Chicken or Turkey for the Mushrooms and you are good to go.  It's e...

This post is going to look a little different. You see, I am house sitting for my brother and his wife this week, as well as baby sitting the children, because they are celebrating their anniversary. Thus, I have been "forced", as it were, to bust out their CorningWare for all my cooking needs.

Yet another great classic Italian pasta recipe. This one is from Amatrice. If you prefer a more Romanized version, you can add 1/4 cup chopped onion and substitute Bucatini for the Spaghetti, but I prefer the original version. Though you can use Bacon or Pancetta as a substitute, ...

Introduction
Greetings, and thank you for taking interest in my rants and ramblings about food. My name is Shane and I am a farm boy from east Multnomah county Oregon (That's just east of Portland in the scenic Columbia River Gorge), transplanted to Southern California for work purposes.

Oye! Serious culture shock!

The worst part though, was the lack of home cooking. Thus, with grim determination, a copy of "The Joy of Cooking", and a complete disregard for my own safety.... I taught myself to cook.

It was either that, or a resort to a steady diet of Carl's Junior.  Nine years of disasters and triumphs later, I figured it was time to blog about some of my culinary adventures and the love I have developed for cooking in Vintage Corningware. (Not that cheap stoneware stuff that World Kitchen makes now days)

Now, after 15 years in SoCal I have returned to the "Great North Wet" and a whole slew of ingredients that were unavailable in the Southland. Apples galore, Huckleberries, Fresh Hazelnuts, Wild Salmon, Sturgeon, Marion Berries. Endless bounty.

I tend to get a little opinionated, but my opinions are based on my life experiences. Please take it in stride, I am not trying to offend anyone and I certainly won't be offended if you don't agree with me. Everyone's experience on this blue marble is different, and diversity, as well as baked goods, makes the world go round.
