day 1: last Friday I walk into store. Told I am within the 14 day buyer’s remorse period and I can cancel service at no cost, zero, zilch, well aside from a $35 restocking fee was told it would cost me nothing. Process was quick and was impressed with how fast and friendly the whole thing went.
Day 5 (today): Log in to check at&t see what the phone bill is now with just wife on it. Account shows a balance of $924 owed. Wait...WHAT!!!!. I am now thinking I missed some fine print or they found something wrong with the phone and OMFG MY WIFE IS GONNA KILL ME. I cannot imagine how we are being charged over $700 for whatever.
First call: ATT tells me the mistake was made at the store. The point of sale marked it as a "Move" instead of "Buyer’s Remorse". I ask them can they correct it. I am told they cannot, that I physically need to go to the store for them to fix the issue. (Things that don't makes sense number #1) I go up the ladder, won't budge.
Call 2 (the store): I call the store, explain the whole thing. Then, I am told the most baffling thing. They cannot make the change without the bill, that they cannot see the bill (things that don't make sense #2) so they will not be able to do it till the 19th, apparently that is when they can see the bill and....(I need to emphasize this) PRINT it out, or I can print out the bill and bring it in and they can make the change then (things that don't make sense #3).......so in order to make a change on their ELECTRONIC SYSTEM, they first need to print out a physical bill................ I will let that try and sink in for a moment.
Anyway that is where I am at right now. I feel I have already spent WAY more time on this than is necessary and more and more pleased with my decision to leave AT&T. Look the service was great, I never had any issues with the service outside of not being able to justify the cost when there are other options out there. I have to imagine that it cannot possibly be this difficult to cancel or stop something.
