MONSTROUS post about my first leg of this trip... in Bordeaux... with my family.. for a week...
lots of photos (most of which are credited to Rachel Meyerowitz) let me know what you think - http://theu.be/1lRDdPH
Bordeaux… Each Trip, Better Than The Last. I detailed my last trip to Bordeaux so I am not going to spend too much time going into a lot of detail here. The trip was really interesting and it was a lot of family time and a lot of time spent learning more details about my grandfather ...

"Tracks": Another shot from my sunset shoot the other day here in Pacific Beach. I didn't even notice the tracks in the sand until I was processing this photo. Totally ended up right in the middle of them by accident. I think it works though. What do you think?

Post from last week that i wanted to share with my friends here on G+

"So, i just got back to ny to surprise my parents who i am SURE have missed the heck out of me since my move to SD. I also came back to share some really incredible news (which i eluded to last week).
I received a call from my literary agent on Thursday informing me that Gotham/Penguin Publishing was extending an offer to buy the book I've been working on for the past two years. Many of you know the story but for those of you that don't, check it out here (www.morhangenetwork.com).

The book is set to be released Veterans Day (november) of next year. We are all SUPER EXCITED and I can't wait to see the my grandfather's story on the shelves at book stores all over the country (and hopefully all around the world).

Thanks to those people that have supported me and offered encouragement along the way."

"Home": I live 5 minutes from this beautiful place here in Pacific Beach in San Diego. I haven't been shooting much out here (mostly been eating and drinking). But, the mood struck last night and I think it was worth it. Enjoy!

Suggest a Title: Another from venice beach. I was thinking of calling this "follow me to... " or "walk this way"... what are your thoughts?

Barely better then has station sushi. Shrimp tempura was cold, clearly because it was cooked earlier. Salmon avocado was bland. No low sodium soy sauce and no spicy mayo.

good, not great. We did pick up from here last night. Me and my friend both got the Gyro Plate (should we have switched it up and gotten 2 different things, sure, but we were hungry and it was late). the plate was plentiful and there was plenty to eat between the gyro meat, the eggplant type salad, some pita some rice and tomatoes. The meat was a little on the drier side, but still tasty. we also got an order of hummus which was good. you can very easily screw up hummus, but this was solid. last note: the tzatziki sauce: i rate a greek/Mediterranean place on their yogurt sauce. this was a 3.5/5. it wasn't too watery, had cucumber in it, had a good taste. I would come back here again, although i may try a different entree.

taking my certification class with them through kyle at the la jolla shop. seems like a cool dude and seems to know his shit. the whole course is costing me just over $500 with some gear (snorkel, mask, gloves, booties, flippers). the course started with a friday night session from 6-9 at the shop where they go through some basic information and basically scare the crap out of you about diving and how dangerous it can be. the next morning is spent at the shop also (around 8-11). then its off to the pool for the rest of saturday and then all day sunday to go over all the skills and things you need to know. lastly, youll have to come back another weekend for the ocean dives. ours were canceled this weekend due to rough sea conditions so i dont have any information about what that is like.

interesting space. I was up in LA for the day and was meeting some friends here. Drinks are good (got a mule), beers are good (nice variety/selection), and food is solid. a few of us got the "pacman bowl". i still dont know what was in it, but it was DAMN good. we also got the korean fries, which were just the right amount of spice. the bar itself was a bit dark for my liking, but there was plenty of space for us to sit when we got there (around 730pm on a tuesday). prices were moderate and i would go back again if, for nothing else, to have more of that pacman bowl.

good spot. really strong wings. we went dirty style which is a blend of a couple of their sauces. it was really good. a little spicy, a little sweet. good stuff. also got the stuffed red pepper which was good. it comes over a couple of slices of crostini which, other then needing to be just a little bit more crispy, served the dish well. service is extremely friendly (although a bit slow). theyve got a huge beer selection and you could spend the entire week there without repeating the same drink if you dont want to. i would come back.

rolls were not too large, but there was a TON of big, juicy pieces of lobster there. The bread was great, perfectly crispy and buttered. passed a new englanders test. a+
