#dinovember is one if the coolest things I've seen in a while. While it was originally conceived as a way to share imagination and wonder with children (google "dinovember" to see the origins), I thought, the heck with that - let's make one that was fun for parents and grown ups. Since I've been taking silly pictures of my kids' toys and posting to Facebook for a long time, this was a natural progression. Four episodes in, there's still more to come : )
The latest installment in my 2013 "dinovember" saga, chronicling the tragic passing of Carl the Stegosaurus. #dinovember

There's a funny story in here (if you'll pardon my ego!). Nilofer's real point, about eagles & turkeys, is a good one. Definitely worth thinking about.

"Exactly unlike any movie hero ever, I dropped to the ground, covered my head, went fetal, and made peace with my god. In seconds, thankfully, the raging turkey torrent passed me by, gobbling and clucking and flapping and squawking and then…they were gone. Into the high weeds. Silence. No evidence that it ever happened."

It's not about "empowering" women (they have plenty of power already!) - it's about changing the rules so that their power actually matters.

The New Digital Enterprise has no room right now for whiners or criers. What it needs now is leaders - especially among the middle ranks.

And it's funny, because I'm like "the process guy" around here, and I couldn't agree more!

These numbers from Econsultancy and Adobe might speak to the confusion people have about what content marketing is. But really, all those things listed should be part of a holistic content strategy.

If people think there’s a separation between conversion optimization and content marketing, for example, then they’ll likely start creating content for their blog without a strategy to get leads and sales. That scenario might drive traffic to your website, but it’ll be wasted traffic with nothing in place to capture subscribers. If there’s a separation between targeting and personalization and content, you might drive a lot of unwanted personas to your website that will never buy what you’re selling.

Your people have dozens, probably hundreds, of weak-ties...each. Put those to work.

Are you baking "shared purpose" into your culture, making it a part of your employee's daily lives? Unless you've clearly mapped an individual role's purpose back to overall firm purpose, and clearly articulate how those both relate to a person's own purpose and or passion, guess what? I don't wanna hear you talk about shared purpose, because all you're doing is talking.

Introduction
Principal @ C77 Consulting, LLC / Digital Strategy + Execution

I like to talk about culture, strategy, leadership, digital & social media, organizational development, knowledge management, beer, football, boats, motorcycles, cars, video games, movies, books, cooking, and music of all sorts.

I fancy myself a renaissance man and I try to be a good Taoist.

I'll talk to just about anyone about just about anything. If you're not careful, I'll talk to you, too.

Bragging rights
I was a bouncer at The Rat in Kenmore Square in the mid 1990s. To a very small few, that still means something. I'm inordinately proud of having worked there, and thankful I had the opportunity to do so and meet all the folks who came through those doors.

They Might Be Giants covers Chumbawamba | Video | AV Undercover ...

They get knocked down, but they get up again with the help of The AV Club staff.

A pal and I stopped here for lunch while taking a day off to have a motorcycle cruise in September. The staff were very friendly, our orders were prepared quickly, and the food was delicious. I can't remember what my friend had, but I had a bacon cheeseburger sub and it was *awesome*. The pickles on the side were fantastic, too...not sure if they were home-made but they too were awesome...large, crunchy half-sours. We definitely liked that this place was kind of a "spot" - when we were eating out at the picnic tables, locals appeared in droves to get their food and shoot the breeze with the employees and other customers. Telling, too, was the fact that a number of them, keenly observing that we were a bunch of city boys "not from around there" went out of their way to tell us how good this place was, and to tell our friends. Next time we ride up that way, I'm sure we'll be stopping in again. Highly recommend this place. It's a greasy spoon, make no mistake, but you'll love it.

I absolutely recommend Mirak Hyundai, and I also absolutely recommend salesman Nick Carco. The Good: I was purchasing a Veloster, a brand new model for 2012, that was pretty popular and had a lot of buyer interest - and Mirak charged MSRP when other dealers were adding $2500-$3500 to sticker price; Nick was very, very knowledgeable about the vehicle and worked very hard to find me exactly what I wanted, Tim made the actual finance & purchase a snap, in and out in 30 minutes. No hassle, no stress, no strain. Absolute best car-buying experience of my life. The Bad: It took me about three weeks of confusion, mis-communication, being shuffled from one salesman to another, annoying emails, and requests for information not being fulfilled *before* I got to Nick and the really excellent experience. The Details: My initial experience with the dealership was a little rocky, and I was less than inclined to continue working with them. I was very interested in purchasing a Veloster, a brand new model. When the first car showed up, I scheduled a test drive - the gentlemen on the phone told me it would be ready to drive two days hence, and we made an appointment for that time. When I arrived for the test drive, I was told that the car was not ready to be driven and I'd have to come back. Would have very much appreciated a heads-up call saying that the car wasn't ready and not to bother coming down. I didn't appreciate having my time wasted. After that, I was subjected to email after email asking if I was ready to purchase, did I have any questions, would I like to have my Hyundai (that I hadn't bought yet!) scheduled for a service visit, and the like. The initial salesman I worked with sent these emails, but never got back to me with the specific information I needed to make any purchasing decisions. I went to a couple other dealerships to see what they could do for me. What they could do for me was pretty clear - jerk me around like I had nothing better to do with my time. I went back to Mirak to see if I could make it happen there, because at least they all seemed like nice guys. That's when I fell in with Nick Carco. Nick immediately assessed my needs, asked me what I was looking for, told me he'd find me relevant information, and then got back to me with that information quickly. He then proceeded to bend over backwards to find a very specific (and apparently rare) model, trim & color combination for me and have it transferred from another dealer. When the car arrived and it was time to do the deal, he got me in with the Finance Manager, Tim, who had me in and out in 30 minutes with a deal that worked for everyone. Nick knew every detail about the car, from stem to stern, and was able to explain every feature. Nick did a great job overall, and I was very happy to work with him and Mirak. I'd definitely recommend them both.
