Prior to UC (Unified Communications), our answer to everything was “I have a button for that”. With UC, the telephone system solution usually involves a desk phone with fewer buttons complimented by the UC desktop application. This application works like a smart phone which provides an improved end-user experience and increases efficiency and collaboration between employees.

As of 2014, NEC has made Unified Communications affordable businesses of all sizes!

Please watch the informative video below, and if you are interested in UC (Unified Communications) for your business, please give us a call!

Why should a business consider an on premises phone system?

Phone systems are not a one size fits all solution and many companies are quickly sold a phone system that may not be the right fit for their specific needs.

What is an On Premises Phone System?

An on premises phone system simply stated means that the phone hardware and software is located at the company’s building.

While ServiceMark does provide Hosted “Cloud-Based” phone systems, we know that it is not right for all companies. Hosted phone systems require a solid internet connection, and some companies do not have access to dedicated internet connection.

At ServiceMark, we are strong proponents of hosted, cloud-based telephone system solutions. We are also proponents of on-premises telephone systems. We are not advocates of technology for technology sake. I can assure you that at ServiceMark, we’ll provide an honest, common sense approach to help you discover the technology that is the best fit.

Why should a business consider a hosted, cloud based telephone system?

Cloud based phone systems can be cost effective for small companies, if they are willing to connect to the cloud-based phone system via the public internet. It’s cost effective because it eliminates the cost of telephone lines.

While ServiceMark (like any vendor) can’t control the quality of the public internet, ServiceMark can measure the quality of a customer’s internet service. ServiceMark can install a diagnostic tool to measure a customer’s internet quality as a means of connectivity to NEC’s cloud-based telephone system.

Cloud based telephone systems provide the opportunity to install a solution with a minimal initial investment. However, it’s also important to remember that a cloud-based telephone system requires an ongoing monthly fee that never goes away.

We’ve all been through the frustration of voice mail jail. You know the routine. You call a company with an automated menu that’s too long and you’re in voice mail jail with no easy way to get to a real person. An automated attendant built into your phone system is not something that just anyone can program and keep incoming callers happy, there are specific principles that need to be followed:

Principle One: A few automated attendant menu choices are a lot better than lots of menu choices.

Principle Two: Ideally, when the caller presses zero during normal business hours, they always get a person.

Principle Three: Pre-planning is essential

When these principles are taken into consideration, auto attendant benefits the company and these principles can help your company Find another 30K with YOUR phone system.

As technology advances, companies are hearing words such as “Hosted” or “Cloud-Based” telephone systems. But what does that mean?

A cloud-based phone system, means the hardware and software is not housed at the company site, rather it is “Off Premises” or at a different location.

Cloud-based phone systems are not for all companies. For more information about hosted or cloud-based phone systems, please contact us today! We will be happy to discuss with off premises phone systems.

VoIP is an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, and a brief definition is “talking over a public or private IP data network”.

Is VoIP reliable?

At ServiceMark we are strong proponents of Voice over IP technology, and we are also strong proponents of traditional telephone technology. We are not advocates of technology for technology sake. That being stated; VoIP is a mature technology and is very reliable if best practices are followed.

For more information regarding the reliability or to hear more how VoIP could benefit your business, watch the video below, or feel free to contact ServiceMark today:
