Congratulations to the indoor maps group. Just a short time ago this was bleeding edge research and today it is available to millions.

Of course, this is just the start ... more places and greater accuracy to come.
Google Maps originally shared:
Today, Google Maps is entering a new frontier: mapping the indoors. As part of this morning’s launch of Google Maps 6.0 for Android, you can use your phone to see detailed floor plans of airports, malls, large stores, and other public spaces; get a more accurate location indoors; and find your way around large buildings. The familiar ‘blue dot’ can show you where you are indoors and automatically detect what floor you’re on. And it’s all seamlessly integrated into Google Maps for Android.

Is there a dungeon masterizing function?
how do you get the images. I thought i heard someone in the bathroom.
Great idea, definitely something long overdue.
Congrats, this is exactly what I needed.
Wow you Google bods come up with everything :D
Finally something I can use to find my way around airports :-) Great job, +Sergey Brin & team!
Wow, I have always said to myself: "I wish there was Google maps in store X so I can just find this one thing I am looking for and leave." Perfect!
When Gmaps will do the same thing with my apartment? I can't find my fridge. :-)
This is huge! Love what Google has been putting out, you guys update like mad!
Who cares about your fridge? I'm just trying to find a clean pair of socks. More vital technology for our modern lifestyle.
How do I post the location of my sofa to Google-Maps? That's ugly Android phone does not use GPS indoors ;)

Beside jokes: inside official buildings this is a very nice function.
Amazing stuff, Google! Care to share the g+ pages of some of the indoor maps team members? I'd love to follow.
Nice! Now bring on indoor "Street View"... :-)
How can I find a ghost in my house using Google-Maps? I need this feature in next release.
1) Walk 3 meters
2) Turn right
3) Walk another meter
4) Your cool socks will be in your fridge
This is really neat. Any planed integration with retail partners to display ads on these indoor maps?
You guys are insane! Keep up the good work!
Awesome! I just tested it and it's great. I wasn't expecting so many details from the local Fort Lauderdale airport.

Great job.

Great stuff... and will be available for iOS when??
(Picturing some indoor version of the street view camera vehicles ... I imagine camera-helmeted people tearing around hallways on Segways.)
How do I map my house? Using the new Panorama feature on my Galaxy Nexus running ICS?
Now I can get walking direction to Manny's Deli inside of Midway Airport :) of course it's not as good as the Jefferson St location :)

It's nice to see the outward focus of Google lately. Now, if only there could be more cooperation within the industry for the good of progress...things would really get propelled to tomorrow.

(especially within the integration of television...we are so far behind our abilities. Keep up the good fight!)

Using the compass, the GPS, and the camera of mobile phones owners is for sure a must have data source... There should be a "capture mode" :) I guess the technology's been used successfully so far, what's preventing broader contributions? Thanks
next google project. . . mapping the forbidden city?
One step closer to helping your robotic overlords find their way.

Now where did I put my particle filter
This is great. Keep innovating and pushing for better and better results!
my number one app
This is the last generation that will ever know what it means to be lost.
Here's hoping you can map the Las Vegas Convention Center by CES! ;)

Looks awesome, can't wait until there's some indoor content in Australia. Google maps is excellent
Молодцом ваша компания Сергей.

Thanks Sergey. I think that you should have a treasure hunt.
You guys continue to amaze me. Where would you Go-ogle next?
Amazing technology. I can think of some really good ways for using this tool for business productivity.
Are you insane? How is a good thing? Now its easier for some low rent terrorist to attack us.
emmmm a big problem for xénophobia and worried we talk about technologies innovations... not politics...
Sergey, it would be nice to have house number lookups for the Romania maps too. I can find a street but imagine if it is 10 km long, what is the accuracy?
indoors seem interesting. let's see where it will take us...the main app in general is a little buggy in my opinion
I'm sure that the lastest development in Google maps will profoundly improve the app and should prove to be quite useful. Thankyou.
+Sergey Brin what is the reason you left the fifth image empty in your scrapbook photos? curios...
Its amazing......thng...........satelite fanstatic.....
I love what Google is doing - making life easier through unbeatable technology. Mr. Brin you are one of my role models. Cheers
Hello and congratulations to the small maps team. Phenomenal job. I don't know what it takes to master such a feat however, I'm sure that it's a wonder to most. I do have a question more so of a concern, actually never mind. I'm just a worry wart. Enjoy your success...
Hi I thought I'd share my thoughts on Google TV. The future of TV is voice control, meaning I wouldn't be surprised if Apple comes out with a All-in-one that you can control with your voice. Why don't you guys make a small box with a mic in it and a bit of storage (upgradable via microsd) and then have a tv box that you can say get directions, and then it sends it to your phone that's like 99 bucks. On the other end you could share directions with your friends and they could see where you're at on their TV. On top of that you could install Voice Apps that integrate with the Voice Search/Command thing, so the things you could tell it to do would be infinite. Also add the ability to capture content from your phone/camera/any source with like hdmi and share easily. The main accessory I'd have is some kinda clip on thing wireless mic (prob bluetooth) or something that makes it easier for people to hear your voice commands when a lot of people are talking around you at a party.
could we create an automapping feature that works by geotags and photos being merged into a 3d environment... like take a picture from more than 3 points in each room in your house, and voula you have a sort of model of your house to browse through, I imagine real estate agents would like this.
Where's Waldo? I want a function which tells me where someone else is so that I can find them within a place to meet up with them or avoid them. For example, when my wife and I are out shopping, we could track each other inside the shopping mall or store so that we could find each other, the same function could be used to track/find one's child/children (who has/have a cell phone) if the child/children wander off/become separated from the parent(s). As well, if I am somewhere I think someone I want to avoid is and they have their cell phone on, I could track where they are and avoid them so that they won't see me.
+Sergey Brin I'm sure you already have Street View adequately covered. So, can I get a job taking all the Room View photos for this new feature? :)
Oh now Home Depot & Lowes will like this
like "bleeding edge research" this indoor mapping for shops can go into goggle goggles?
so are you guys using 3G/4G/GSM/CDMA triangulation for indoor environments?
i really wonder i the floor plans for public places was take and put iin? Or are satellite imagery of a different form was used to get some sort of an xray map (to identify the concrete structures)?
Amazing stuff - great to see Google still leading with innovation & great ideas.
Really be happy is to appreciate the beauty of the universe with a clip just thank God and you
hello blurry line between virtual and real
I don't know,  Hotel Finder is such a mess, or my god.
This is how poor implementation can fail good idea
