Terry Mutchler has turned the Office of Open Records into one of the most respected agencies of its type in the nation. When we enacted the new Open Records Law in 2008, I knew that the first Executive Director would be critical to determining its success or failure. I’m very pleased that the law has become an overwhelming success, due in large part to Terry’s dedicated leadership.

Filling the position of Executive Director requires a person with unimpeachable integrity, unwavering fairness, and a strong work ethic – all qualities which Terry possesses.

Today is the 44th anniversary of the first Earth Day. In Pennsylvania, the theme this year is “Pick It Up – Pennsylvania,” aimed at encouraging people to collect and properly recycle or dispose of litter across our beautiful Commonwealth. If you see some litter today, please take a moment to see that it's properly dealt with. Thank you!

We should encourage development near mass transit stations and stops. Tomorrow, I'll join Sen. John Rafferty (R-44) and the Senate Transportation Committee to examine Pennsylvania's Transit Revitalization Investment District Act at a public hearing in Upper Darby: http://goo.gl/3UzOGU

Story
Tagline
Pennsylvania state Senator representing parts of Chester & Delaware counties, Senate Majority Leader.
Introduction

Senator Dominic Pileggi was elected Majority Leader by his colleagues in November 2006, 2008 and again in 2010. He has represented the Ninth Senatorial District, which includes portions of Chester and Delaware Counties, since winning a special election in October 2002.

As Majority Leader, Senator Pileggi determines legislative priorities, manages the Senate calendar, builds consensus on legislation to be voted, and serves as one of the chief negotiators of the annual state budget. He chairs the Rules and Executive Nominations Committee and is a member of the Appropriations Committee and the Legislative Reapportionment Commission.

A staunch advocate of improving government accountability, Senator Pileggi led the effort to rewrite the state's 50-year-old Open Records Law, making most government records open to citizens. He was instrumental in reforming Senate Rules to make the process more transparent.
