France, Gouffre de Padirac
WOW!!! Our first time, +Dianne Hall
and I, underground anywhere in the world and we happen to find this attraction while doing a Google search of the nearby attractions. We were staying in a historic stone cottage in Emboly, Lamothe-Fenelon region in the south of France to fill in time before we moved on to my perceived highlight of Mont Saint Michel and staying in a stone cottage in the countryside of France sounded like a relaxing 5 day break.
The Gouffre de Padirac is one of many underground caves scattered across the area of France. The only downside was they didn't allow photography past this point which is understandable as the conditions down there were quite dark and slippery. Also it would be difficult getting a shot while being transported by BOAT
along a few legs of this tour. An unbelievable experience just floating down the underground river looking up at stalactites and gaping cracks in the earths surface. If you don't believe me checkout +Gordon Laing
's image from here as he too thought is was a spectacular place.
On our way from Emboly to Padirac we stumbled upon another location, Rocamadour. Those images will be the next images posted to this album of France.
