We were delighted when our good friend and Earth Day retreat winner, Douglas Borcoman, hosted the first ever Astronomy Night, turning Sedona Mago Retreat into the premiere viewing spot for stargazing enthusiasts. The event was open to all guests, and Douglas' knowledge and enthusiasm awarded them with an enchanting evening of thoughtful conversation and a deeper appreciation for the nature of the cosmos. After the event, Douglas sent each person the following photos and this profound poem.
"Stargazing at Mago
Excited murmurs
Under the canopy of stars,
Dazzled by the speech of light itself.
The very light
That twinkles in each eye.
For we ourselves are made of stardust.
Our life within
Exploded in an instant
13 billion years ago…
A million trillion years ago.
It finds its way
Back to the beginning
Only to see itself
Ultimately
In the gaze of
Each of us,
As we nightly return to our home
Under the
Canopy of stars."

Walking the Mago Healing Garden in spring, could there be anything more delightful? Letting go of everything is very easy here. It just gives me the feeling of coming home to Mother Earth. Naturally, everything that seemed to matter and made me worry or agonize melts away in an instant, leaving my mind clear and calm.

The fifth chakra is the gate that manages expression and communication.  The true self, located in the fourth chakra (heart chakra), can be expressed when the voice of the true self comes up through the throat and out the mouth in words.

If there's one thing that doesn't change, it is the fact that everything changes. In the Korean tradition of Tao, this is called impermanence.

This Memorial Day, we would like to honor the great men and women who selflessly sacrificed their lives so that the spirit of freedom could live on for future generations. Join us at 3 p.m. in a moment of silence. Let us take the time to give thanks to our fallen heroes and pray for the family and friends of the deceased. May their souls be at peace, and may their courage and conviction serve as a reminder that without their sacrifice, the freedoms and privileges that we enjoy today would not be possible.

Some Chinese Medicine texts teach that while the physical stomach and spleen digest our food, their energetic job is to change the food into 'post-natal' energy. This description offers an opportunity to reflect on our relationship to the earth.

According to Chun-Bu-Kyung, the oldest text of Korean tradition of Tao, we all come from "One" and return to "One" which has no beginning and no ending.

Tao principles guide you to open, connect to, and listen to the 4th chakra, also known as the heart chakra or home of your true self.

I HIGHLY recommend making a trip to Sedona, and specifically to Mago Retreat. It's an incredible place that must be experienced in order to be truly understood. I miss it -- daily.

There's no place I'd rather be than SMR to recover my true essence of my whole being. I can't keep up with the latest developments of this particular property; there are a myriad of people and various organizations involved and its philosophies are all encompassing, welcoming all backgrounds. It is a home to everyone with sincere intentions to live as harmonious earth humans. Thank you so much

The Sedona Mago Retreat was everything I had hoped it would be and more. From the absolutely magnificent grounds and vistas to the wonderful people, both staff and the other guests, the welcome feeling is immense. There was not a single moment that I was there that I did not feel as though I was in the most peaceful place on earth. The program I took was executed in such a manner that you really learned what you came to learn but not for a moment were you made to feel self conscience or uncomfortable. I can not wait to go back so that not only can I learn more but so that I can feel the amazing energy that is so strong every where you go there.

Very intentional place that has given me space to really connect with myself. Lots of trails and nooks to spend time moving my body and time alone. Very quiet and peaceful. Food is delicious--most of it grown there and locally. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I recommend going and doing the yoga and meditation trainings. The combination of the atmosphere and trainings offered have really changed the quality of my life. Very grateful for this place and everyone's intentional effort and sincerity.
