We had booked a standard room for a night at the Red Lion hotel on 5th but there was an issue with this room as the A/C seemed to be blowing cold air all through the night. Needless to say, we did not enjoy our stay. However, after discussing this issue with management, they acknowledged the situation and apologized for the experience. More importantly, they followed up with an offer to upgrade our accommodations on another visit. Hesitant at first, we decided to take them up on their offer, and they totally made up for the bad night we had earlier. They really made us feel important, and provided one of (if not the best) rooms available in the entire hotel. The fact that they were able to understand the situation and do their best to make up for it, speaks volumes. It would have been easy for them to just turn away and ignore us, instead they took on the challenge and turned us into happy guests. This is obviously not an easy task as I was very critical of our initial experience. Three words... Great Customer Service. Thanks.

The hotel is fine, but for the price I paid I expected better quality, service and room. We booked a Friday night in August and this hotel was competitive price-wise as many other hotels downtown. After a three hour drive, we got our non-view room and discovered the toilet was clogged. I had to use the facilities badly so we called the front desk and they said they'd send someone right up. After waiting 15 minutes, I went down the restaurants to use their bathroom. The elevators were slow and clogged with drunk people going to the terrace bar. Other minor annoyances like this--unable to access the parking garage with our key card, waking up to talking in the next room over, and no service at all (not even a menu) during breakfast--all added up to a negative stay for close to $400 a night (with taxes and parking). I would not stay here again--there are plenty of other options in the same area that are higher quality and level of service.

I've always seen the outside and didn't really think much of the place. I stayed with friends when we went to a concert in Seattle, and I was very surprised by the interior. The lobby was nice and our floor was newly renovated. Very nice inside. The room had 2 doubles which was a bit tight for sharing, but overall the place was nice.

I stayed here last year and their service was top notch, rooms were modern and clean and the view was phenomenal. We also enjoyed the restaurant and proximity to entertainment and shopping. Price is on par for the location and what they have to offer.

Saturday Night Update: My 4th Miserable Night at the Red Lion -- Right outside the window and down 10 floors is the largest outdoor patio bar in Seattle. The noise is insane! It's 11:30pm and the noise gets louder as the night goes on. There is music blaring, drunk girls screaming, and loud drunk 20- and 30- something guys yelling at each other. It's my understanding that hotels rent out rooms for sleeping. Yet the noise in this hotel is so overwhelming, sleep is all but impossible. I'm surprised that they would have a bar outside their hotel like this as it has to be as miserable for other guests as it is for me. Right? On the other side of the room, the noise from the elevators is constant. All day, all night. There is never a time when it is quiet and peaceful here, but Saturday night has been the worst of the four nights I've stayed. The noise just gets louder and louder and louder and louder. Under no circumstances should you stay at this hotel. I am so tired and sleep deprived, I just want to cry! I cannot wait to leave this hotel. If someone gives you a gift certificate here, know that they must hate you.

We stayed at the Red Lion Hotel one night after our cruise to Alaska. Hotel was clean and very nicely decorated. Service staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Now the bad! Toilet seat was so loose that it was about to fall off. The King bed was so broken in the middle that it was like sleeping in a valley. Very strange when you have to craw up to get out of bed. A very restless night! Although we had a discounted price of 145.00 for the room, I expected more from this hotel. When checking out I was offered an apology but still had to pay the entire bill. We will not be staying at the Red Lion Hotel again. Loved Seattle and the Cruise but the hotel not so much!!
