They sure did. $199 for a nice press release isn't such a good deal any more. Even $25 may be too much.

PR's shouldn't be used for SEO any more, they are a standalone message delivery platform.
 
The issue with this chart is that it speaks to SEO spammers, not to those companies and wire services who distribute actual news, not just gamed the system for visibility.  Press releases and reputable news distribution services have a true and a valued place in the communication ecosystem, they just keep getting lumped in with the SEO spammers.  THIS IS WHY PR PEOPLE CANNOT HAVE NICE THINGS!
