<rant> Comment spam absolutely sucks. What is comment spam? It is an attempt by somebody to boost his message by hijacking a popular post. Here's a recent example of one that I told to get lost. I removed his name so that he doesn't get any reward out of being a jackass. If you find comment spam, please report it and remove it. Don't allow this junk to reduce the quality of an otherwise excellent experience here on Google Plus. </rant>

A couple of years ago I met an adventurous photographer named Vanessa Avery. She was one of the most amazing people I've ever met. I just visited her site and I see photos from the same day I ran into her. Anyway here's the part where I admit to feeling like a total doofus. We get a lot of photographers on that little point that I like to shoot surf from so often, and most of them are just clowning around and usually in danger of getting hurt. I didn't realize that she was absolutely in the short list of people who knew precisely what she was doing. She's inspired me to push boundaries ever since. Please read this fascinating article, see her site, and follow her on Instagram.

Here's the article that I just found that features her and her work. The photo below is of course not my own work.

My first assignment was shooting the Tennessee Titans football team, shirtless and wearing feathered angel wings. I worked on shoots with Jars of Clay,...

I love the look of backlit surfers. It usually means I have to be up pretty early in the morning though!

This photo reminded me of those photo shoot trips I made at the Jungle Gardens in Sarasota, I could take so many pictures of these bright colored creatures, they are so beautiful.

How to get a cat in a box:
#1: get a cat. #2: get a box
Shenanigans ensue.

+Elizabeth Hahn Our Jack Russell Terrier dog Bubba loves to be in the dog cage or a box, when he misbehaved, we would order him to go to his cage, he loved it and always volunteered to get into the cage, so we have to cancel that rule for discipline!

There's a lot to like about the view here. This is about as close to "street photography" as I get.

+Keisha Bampoe This is one of my very favorite spots. It's a little point that faces south along the Monterey Bay. There's a tiny lighthouse that you can just make out in the upper right corner. There's an older brick lighthouse (long obsolete, but we love it so it stays) way out of the shot and to the right. The surf along this 1 mile stretch is some of the most reliable I've ever known. The way that it juts out into the bay gives us the unique ability to see the sun rise and set over the Pacific Ocean for parts of the year. I've spent a lot of time here.

Introduction
I take pictures and break stuff. Sometimes in the same session. I'm a friendly guy from around Santa Cruz,CA. I work in technology and am a photographer on the side. I love anything creative. That can be fooling around with code or making a photograph that captures the imagination.

My favorite photography subjects almost always include people. They also usually include rocks & water. So... mix in people. rocks, & water and you get a lot of surf photography from around Santa Cruz. Who knew?

Thanks for reading my story. Thanks also for following and commenting. Constructive feedback is always welcome.
