Interesting blog by Jim Lee on a mathematical formula for the value of #knowledgemanagement  .  I like the concept that the value of a single knowledge artefact may vary depending whether it is at rest (in a database), pushed (to a potential user), or pulled (by a potential user).  We could debate which of the coefficients is higher but the challenge remains how to measure the individual value items. A step in the right direction nonetheless

Four key concepts:  Transaction to interaction; B2B/C to P2P, Gatekeeper to platform provider; and hierarchy to network.  Excellent to facilitate a discussion
Discusses four key concepts to distinguish between a traditional business (20th century) and a social business (2st century).

Was on the edge of my seat throughout the England v France rugby match today. We had time-shifted it by a couple of hours. I am soooo glad nobody told me the score in the intervening period. Exciting match - and one with the correct outcome!

For the first time since 1996 IBM's market value exceeds that of Microsoft - just! bbc.in/n5gjMz It is nice to see IBM's strategy paying off. Is Apple catchable? Probably not (yet) - they are 50% bigger again.

6800 patents in 2013! Of the order of 20 every working day. Pretty good going.

This year IBM set a new a new U.S. #patent record making IBM a patent leader for 21 years. This year they had over 6800 patents.

This is how IBM stacks up against the their competitors and other tech companies in patent #innovations.

Brief but enjoyable sandwich lunch at Potbelly's of Milwaukee
reviewed:
Potbelly Sandwich Shop
135 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53203
I had a spare hour on a business trip to wander around Milwaukee and find somewhere for lunch. I didn't want the regular chain stores. This place fit the bill perfectly; good atmosphere, good food, friendly staff - ideal for lunch.

IBM the Greenest Company in America. I knew we had pretty good environmental policies but to be No. 1! That's quite impressive.
