After 2 years of happy podcasting it finally happened...advise required.
My Mac gave a low memory warning part way through our hour long show yesterday. We paused and double checked everything before continuing. Alas in post production today I find that half of the audio is corrupt!
My fault, I've heard the warnings often enough about backups etc. I even have a Zoom H2 sitting around. Lesson learnt, now for the question. What is the best way to record my backup?
My current setup is a Yeti USB into the Mac, Skype for my co-host, split with SoundFlower & LineIn for channel management into GarageBand. I love this set up as it gives me separate channels for each voice. I monitor back out through the headphone jack in the mic.
Where could my voice recorder fit in this setup? Importantly, will it still allow me channel separation on the backup version?
One consideration was to scrap the software altogether and invest in the setup +Ray Ortega
recommends in the post Recording Skype with no Mixer or Software
Alternatively, I am happy to consider a more solid setup altogether as we are now over 2 years in.
