Why it's smarter to buy in the US and ship to Australia
Personally I'd rather pay the $50 to ship it over than buy it in Australia.

First attempt to enter into orbit around Venus 8 years ago - FAILED
But the second attempt (with the same spacecraft) in 2018 was a success.

YUP, I am becoming a cranky old man

For years I have despised the ignorant world shaping the future of our world. When some ignorant person started calling an RC Helicopter a drone, that just blew me away, but it caught on in the masses of ignorant people around the world.

Now more ignorance catches fire and will spread like wildfire with this new one. Yup, someone decided that he didnt like not seeing his cell phone when it was laying flat on the dash and couldnt see google maps showing him when to turn (and ignoring the road signs), so used a polished piece of metal to reflect the face of his phone while driving. This is typically called a mirror, but NO that isn't good enough to sell, so ignorance prevails and it was renamed a HUD.

A head-up display or heads-up display, [HUD], is any transparent display that presents data without requiring users to look away from their usual viewpoints. The origin of the name stems from a pilot being able to view information with the head positioned "up" and looking forward, instead of angled down looking at lower instruments. A HUD also has the advantage that the pilot's eyes do not need to refocus to view the outside after looking at the optically nearer instruments.

Although they were initially developed for military aviation, HUDs are now used in commercial aircraft, automobiles, and other (mostly professional) applications.

So I got my old man cranky pants on and decided to name and shame as my contribution of doing my part to put a stop to the insanity.

NORAD not tracking Santa this year
Although many news agencies advised that NORAD will still track Santa despite the government shutdown, sadly they were wrong. https://www.noradsanta.org/overlay/tracking/map/index.html Has not reported the location of Santa even 45 minutes after Santa has departed the North Pole. However, not to worry, Google is keeping track and you can too at https://santatracker.google.com/ and you can even use the Desktop version of the tracker to keep tabs on ol' St Nick.

Hey Google, stop helping my son cheat on his homework

So one evening I am cleaning up debris in the yard after quite a windy day and my 7 year old is at the table doing his homework. I came into the house rather unintentionally quiet and I hear my JBLink 10 speaking plus 10 equals 18 and I froze. My son sitting at the table with his back to me about 15 feet away, unaware I had walked into the room, speaks clearly Hey Google, what words rhyme with book? and Google home assistant promptly answers Took, Look, Nook, Brook, Cook, and rook are words that rhyme with book

After a few questions about rhymes, my son makes another request Hey Google, what are 3 primary colors? and Google was happy to oblige. Meanwhile answers are being jotted down on the homework paper. When I made myself known, I asked my son what he thought he was doing, and silly me thinking I was going to get an admission of guilt or nothing Daddy when he realized he had been caught, he very plainly said Google and I are in a study group and Google is helping me

As I stood there unable to find words for a few moments and laughing on the inside, I turned off the JBLink10 came back to my son and advised him that he would learn more if he tried to answer the questions himself, thinking back to what he learned in school today. Again, the answer was simple, flat and unassuming But daddy, google is faster than my brain and I want some free time playing legos before dinner

Ok son, why don't we do some together?

And now I have to keep the link10 off and turn off my mobile phone (also with Google home assistant) when the little one is doing homework. Sadly, Google will still hear you and answer questions even while playing music.

HEY GOOGLE...YOU"RE FIRED! But you know that toaster and kettle are leaving with me, right?
(I seriously didn't get that response if anyone knows what it means)
